Day at the ER and Surgery ... Again!!
Last week Monday I was feeling great, did a liquid diet to try and get back on track ... again!
Tuesday morning I wake up with stomach cramps and bloating, it hurts, but I can handle it. Get ready for work and still complaining about cramps, so hubby suggests I take some Pepto cuz maybe I have so gas bubbles stuck from the liquid diet on Monday.
Get to work and it's getting worse. Someone at work suggests calling my PCP (knowing I had gastric cuz maybe it's related). I call my doc and and she said she doesn't want to see me, I need to go to the ER ... immediately! Ugh, I'm mad cuz I hate being sick and I hate going to the hospital. So, my boss take me since my doc told me I'm not allowed to drive. Hubby meets us there at 9am Tuesday morning.
Take cat scan and x-rays AND ... my appendix is inflamed and has to come out! You have got to be kidding me! So they move me to a private room around 3pm (I'm starving and soooo thirsty by then cuz I haven't had anything to eat since Sunday and nothing to drink by 8am Tuesday morning)!
They are trying to fit me in for surgery. I finally get in around 7:30am and they did the surgery by lap ... damnit, I should have had WLS by lap, although it still hurts, great scars and not so bad. N e ways, wake up and it feels like I can't breath my throat hurts so bad and my mouth is INCREDIBLY dry. They finally give me some ice chips ... best thing I ever tasted!!!! The pain meds they were giving me was making me itch and wasn't really working so I had to keep on calling them after I press the button for them to give me additional meds! Tuesday night and Wednesday morning was a blur. Finally one of the nurses brought me some Perkiset (sp?) but since I had't eaten in more than two days, she gave me a couple of crackers so the medicine won't burn my stomach ... loved, loved, loved the crackers. That's all I ate until Thursday cuz for some reason I was just craving it.
So except forlow blood pressure, I got released Wednesday afternoon and hopefully I can go back to work tomorrow. Still really swollen and actually picked up 10lbs, but eating normally again and feeling better!
What a week!!!!! Really didn't think I would have surgery again other than PS!
Ohhh how scary!! I am so glad you are Okay..
So did they say if that had anything to do with the WLS or just something that would have happenend anyways. The one thing I do not like about having WLS is that everytime I get a pain or tummy ache I think it is going to be something major from the WLS.. Oh well small price to pay I guess. Well I am soo releaved that you are okay!! Thanks for keeping us posted.
Hugs,
Shannan
