year out people
Can you eat any real sugar at all. I went to the hospital after passing out for several days. They said I had to start eating sugar. IT MAKES ME DEATHLY SICK!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The smart @ss doctor said at a year out you should be able to eat sugar. I told him at a year out they should find out why I can't eat sugar much less anything else. One little bite of real sugar makes me so sick I am in bed for 2 to 3 days. And he didn't have any freaking ideas what to do. He just gave me a few bags of fluids and that was it. After being in the ER for 10 hours. I was not a happy person. I am down to 98 lbs. He just said I guess you had to go out and buy all new clothes. Well duhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!! What he HELLo does he think. Well enough about my problems. I hope you all are doing well. All you sexy things. Encluding myself. Oh god I have to laugh to keep from crying. Someone ask me why am I making jokes being so sick. Well it is eather feel sorry for myself. And cry all the time. OR make jokes and laugh and go on with my life. I have always been a joke person. I think I am real funny........... My kids might not think so !!!!!
god bless

Amy, I feel horrible for you. I wish I knew the answer for you, but what I can say is that based on what you've said in this and past posts, my suggestion would be to check out a different doctor. One thing I would suggest is talking to a doctor who's practice is more focused on Bariatric's. Based on the OH website your doctors practice is only 65% bariatric and is NOT an ASBS Center of Excellance. If you go to the ASBS website you can do a search of doctors in your area (make sure you look for one that is a "Center of Excellance" these doctors go through a rigourous screening process to get that designation). Maybe a different doctor can help you. I did a quick search for you and came up with a different doctor. I'm not endorsing this doctor for I don't know anything about him other than what is posted on the website but it's the only thing I can offer besides prayers. Keep us posted on how you are doing.
According to OH this guy's practice is 100% Bariatrics and is does significantly more procedures each year. Just a thought.

Dr. Bauman is the one I wanted in the first place. He was so busy he couldn't see me for 3 months. When I called the doctor that did my gbs. He saw me within a week. He didn't do any test on me before the gbs. I just had to talk to the nutr. and to make sure I wasn't crazy. That was it. I heard most of the doctors do all kinds of test. I can't blame the doctor. What is done is done. I just got to get better and see someone else. Thanks for everything. There are so many nice people on the july board.
God bless

I'm sorry if this sounds harsh but YES YOU CAN BLAME THE DOCTOR. He did a medical procedure on you that he claimed to be qualified for and must also take care of the followup. If he dosn't do this you need to see someone else. Whether he was able to see you in a week, a month, or a year he is still responsible to take care of you. Please for your own sake call Dr. Bauman today. Tell his nurse what is happening with you, explain your situation to them, see how soon they can fit you in. Have them put you on a cancelation list if they have one so that you can come in when somebody else cancels an appointment. I'm worried for you, and I and everyone on this board will worry until you see someone else!
What you are going through is not the norm and I'm not "blaming" your doctor but I question whether or not he has the "experience" or expertise to understand/deal with your situation. Go see someone who does have the experience/expertise. Feel free to call me anytime if you need help (763-923-4517) I will do what I can. I got the doctor I wanted and was very fortunate to jump through all the hoops in 3 months because I was pushy and persistant with not only him, but the insurance company, the psychologists scheduler and my pcp scheduler. It dosn't mean you have to be rude or a bully but you have to be persistant and get people to understand your situtation. One of the tricks I use all the time is that as a teacher it is easiest for me to have medical procedures done during the summer or during school breaks. This has helped me many times get schedules to sometimes open up.
My point is if you are not feeling well and not healthy you have a right to see the right doctor to help you. I know we all feel loyalty to our doctors but don't feel that if he is NOT solving your issues. Sorry to rant/yell but I care, as we all do. Keep us informed and again if there is anything I can do to help let me know.
Oh boy - how terrible for you. Amy - don't let up until you have answers. See a different doctor if you can. Even if you're in the hospital, you can request another doctor or ask to speak to someone in administration (that'll get you better treatment). Who needs a doctor making stupid comments when you're sick.
To answer your question, yes, I can eat sugar and I don't really dump, BUT, certain sugars affect me more than others. Maybe you can find some type of sugar you can tolerate? Not sure if fruits or juices would help, but natural sugar might be a start.
I hope you keep on these doctors and feel better soon. Keep us posted.
