Pearls of wisdom
Here we are 10 months out.
What do you know now that you wish you had known then (July, 2005)
If we get some good advice...........I'll post it on the May and June 2006 boards.
So...........What are your pearls of wisdom that you would share with newbies or those considering surgery?
I guess I'll go first:
1. There is a mourning period in the beginning. One day you're normal, the next day your ability to eat, cope, socialize, etc...has been altered. As soon as you accept this and get "on board" the better. In other words. The faster you comply, the faster you will lose and the more successful your weight loss will be. Don't fight it....accept it!
2. This process messed with my mind more than I EVER though it would....watch out! I'm a mixed bag of extreme emotions. I am supremely confident and yet totally insecure at the same time (just about different things). My hormones are freaking out! If my husband holds still for more than 3 minutes........he's game! I stalk him like a Puma.......ready to pounce at any given time! Poor guy, he doesn't know what hit him!
I will probably think of more later, but I have to go now.
Let's hear it folks! What pearls have you gleaned from this amazing experience?
Later!

On to the important comments:
Protein and water fuel the loss of weight. They also help you feel good.
Watch your medicine dosages. You drop weight so fast that within days or weeks you may reduce or eliminate them, on DRs. orders, of course. Staying on the pre-surgery doses could put your health in jeopardy. I saw my cardiologist 2 weeks out and had all meds reduced. I felt even better after that.
Exercise, enough said!
If you're a man, prepare for a pleasant side effect unless you're hung like a horse. Lose fat-gain an inch or better! You'll be pinching that inch soon.
