Walk, don't run
OK, I have learned my lesson-- I am not a runner. After 8 hours in the emergency room yesterday, lots of waiting and one MRI later, I am home in a boot and on crutches for two weeks (even to hobble to the bathroom!). Then, if everything goes well, physical therapy.
UGH. I am feeling a little sorry for myself-- first the GI thing than this--
The surgery has been great, but it has NOT been easy. And now that I can't exercise at all, I am worried I will start gaining weight again.
WHAT THE HELL!!!!!!...........It's like the infirmary around here!!!
Sheesh!!!!!!!!!!!!
But seriously babe..........That totally sucks!!!!!!!
I'm soooo sorry that you are dealing with this, especially on top of your other issues. If I were there, I'd give you a big hug and an ice pack. (and maybe a doobie)
Two weeks without exercise porbably wont lead to weight gain. Just focus on healing yourself.
Sending you love (((((Andrea)))))

Hope you get to feeling better Andrea!
From the Web:
"Q. You burn more calories per mile if you walk faster or if you run.
A. No, speed has very little effect on the calories per mile that you burn. If you walk a mile or if you run a mile, you burn about the same calories. You would burn more calories in a mile if you used racewalking technique, as it uses more muscles, or if you walk very, very slowly as you lose your momentum and your walking is less efficient.
Calories burned per mile instead depends mostly on your weight - you burn more if you weigh more. However, the wisest way to burn more calories is to walk further, rather than to add weight. If you walk fast or run, you go further in less time."
Andrea!
Sorry bout your foot babe! Rest your poor leg and let her heal up real good.
Just make sure you're back in dancin form for Vegas.
I am moved to verse...
Oh Andrea you shouldn't have run
Now you're hurt, that sure aint any fun
Hope the pain aint too much
As you walk with your crutch
Til your healing and therapys done
Take care beautiful
