This is not good!
Oh my, I hate to complain again. But man, something is really going on with me. I have been to the emergency room twice this week (and I have no insurance!!) They ran tests and could not find anything wrong. Ok, so they give me Dilaudid (spelling) and the pain goes away- yahoo- then 3 hours later it's back. It's right below my rib cage, in the center of my abdomen, and sometimes goes through to my back and I am telling you- when I am having an attack it is WORSE than childbirth- no kidding!!!! So, they come in and say "Well we found nothing wrong on your tests so we're sending you home"
JUST BECAUSE YOU FOUND NOTHING WRONG DOESN'T MEAN THERE IS NOTHING WRONG YOU ********!!!!!!!!!
I'm sorry for yelling. I am just so frustrated, and scared to death of another attack. The pain is excruciating! The last time I went to the ER I had my 5 year old with me, nobody to watch her, and here I am driving down the road vomiting! Thank goodness we only vomit foam so a couple of tissues were enough to contain it. But my god, I felt/feel SOOOO alone, and so scared, and this is the FIRST time that I have ever regretted having this surgery. I can't live like this! I've been missing work (thankfully my boss is an angel!!) I had the complete testing including a Hida scan in October for my gallbladder and they said it was fine. It sure sounds like that is what it is though- can anybody tell me what their symptoms were for a bad gallbladder?
Just wanted to let you guys know the latest. I DO have an appt. with my surgeon on Tuesday so hopefully they can figure it out. I hope, I hope, I hope!
Love to all
Michele
Michele ~ Sorry to hear about your problems. I had my gallbladder out in 1997 and can tell you that it was some of the worst abdominal pain I've ever felt. Symptoms vary from person to person but here were mine. I felt like someone had punched me in the upper stomach - like between the breasts just below the sternum. Then the pain began radiating to the right under my ribs and around to my back. Even after the bad pains went away, I ususally had an "achy" back. The symptoms were normally worse just after eating (because your gallbladder tries to start working to help break down fatty food). One of the worst attacks I had was at 2 am. The pain woke me out of a dead sleep and was so bad that I began blacking out. My attacks were usually accompanied by nausea (as are a lot of people's). I carried the bathroom trash can with me to the ER after the 2 am attach (btw it was so bad/scary that my hubby wanted to call 911 but I convinced him just to drive me to the ER). I don't know what a Hida scan is but they found my with an abdominal ultrasound. My bariatric surgeon takes the gallbladder out routinely for WLS patients.
I'd say you need another scan but I'm not a doctor (but I did stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night).
Take care,
Maria

Oh sweetie!!!
I'm very scared for you right now. My dear friend had similar symptoms about a year ago. They ALSO told her that there was nothing wrong. She went through all kinds of testing and they kept telling her that that they couldn't find anything. They finally caught it right before it ruptured. It had started to leak what ever it is that the gall bladder leaks.
I have no other experience with this and don't know what to tell you to do!!!
Just know that I am very concerned for you right now, but I know that doesn't help! It sounds like you are being very pro-active and doing everything that you can do.
Love you dearly! Keep us posted!

that sounds just like my friend and it was her gallbladder. THe blood tests didnt show anything abnormal, but when they did the ultrasound.. it showed several of them and she had her removed... . She had these symptoms for over a year, before they finally did the ultrasound.... so get one done just to rule it out.
Your symptoms sound very similar to my gallbladder attack symptoms. I thought I was having a heart attack at one point. But it also kind of radiates between your shoulder blades. I would demand an ultrasound to check for stones. October was a long time ago- you could have developed them since then. Good luck!

Would calling Dr. Otero help? I know my surgeon would be right there if I encountered a gallbladder problem. No insurance may be an issue but perhaps he could see that you'd be redianosed.
I'm sending white light and some prayers your way. You are absolutely not alone!
Our f--d u- health care system is in need of change: I am ashamed that good people are not adequately served when financial sh-t happens.

Michelle, I still have my gallbladder, but I just called my good friend and asked her about hers and having it out and she almost exactly repeated your story and I didn't say a thing to her first. (She thought it was me. ) I would call my surgeon tonight! What ever happens, you are in my prayers and do let us know how it goes. {{{{BIG HUGS}}}
This really does sound like it is your gallbladder. I went to the emergency room at least three times and thet never found anything. They always just took chest exrays and sent me on my way. Mine would usually last about 1-2 hours and mostly after I ate. My pain mostly was under the right beast and went around to the back. I suffered with this for nearly 4 years until my ob-gyn finally had me do an upper GI and ultra sound and long and behold it was my gallbladder. I was only 19 at the time (over 23 years ago) and they removed my whole gallbladder been then. Magically the pain was gone. I would go and have a second opinon if I were you. Sounds like a gallbladder to me. Good luck and hope you feel better soon. I would alway sit and the air condition vent a drink milk when I was having these attacks, seemed to help or at least coat the gallbladder.
