Hi Teah I have not tried the South Beach Diet, but I did briefly look into it before I had my surgery and from what I remember it is very similar to how we should eat as post-ops. That carb monster seems to get a lot of folks. Hopefully you can conquer that beast once and for all. Traci

Hi Ladies! What's shakin? Happy Holidays to all. I was curious if anyone has tried the SB diet? I tried it, phase one of the diet is similar to how we ate in the beginnig after surgery. I tried phase one and immediately dropped 8 pounds in the first five days. I wasn't hungry and I didn't crave sweets at all after the second day. I was doing so well, going into day ten, then I took my kids to a halloween party and that was all she wrote... that carb devil showed and I've been trying to get back on track ever since. I plan to start again the day after Thanksgiving. THanks, Teah

I'm in the carb closet, but the door is open.... It used to be if I was having trouble controlling myself I wouldn't post, but I am going through a tough time eating-wise, and I'm telling the world. Nancy isn't so perfect.... Anyway, did the treadmill first thing again today, so I'm trying. I'm in hungry mode, but trying to make better choices. I'm trying to grab for the protein drinks and the pork rinds (not too crazy about them.... ). With me it always seems to be all or nothing. I'm either eating or I'm starving myself. No middle ground for me. Still trying to sort some of that stuff out with the therapist. This weekend I'm going to try to get a little Christmas shopping done, then, I've got a load of leaves I'm going to do battle with..... Where are my girls?? Denise? Monna? Michelle? Yoo-hooooo......... Hugs, Nancy

Morning everyone Where's everyone been? Hiding in the "Carb Closet"? Come on now - don't do that. Keep posting. We all need the support to stay on track. Anyone have any great weekend plans? Traci

Denise, I am attaching a link you may want to read over http://www.5daypouchtest.com/plan/theplan.html. I found this while goggling one day and this is exactly what I do when I indulge in too many carbs. In addition, I noticed those on the Grad Board that have done this. I won't lie the first few days are tough; however, it will help you get back on track. You can do whatever it takes to keep the weight off. For me I have to be real rigid to keep myself in check, otherwise it would be way too easy for me loose control. I still weigh myself each morning and I exercise to keep the weight from rebounding. Take it one meal at a time and focus on anything but food...doe whatever you need to get away from the temptation. Hang in there!

Hey everyone Kiddos are doing okay. On meds. Feeling so-so, well enough to have 'cabin fever', but it's too cold to go out and play. They will be on meds long enough they can go back to school tomorrow. (YAY for me! ) The baby does not have strep. Good news there. My hubby is off work tomorrow, so other than the grandbaby being here, we'll have some time alone together without our kids here. Gotta run check on the kids. It's a busy day. Whew!! Hope everyone is doing well. Stay on track....... no carbing out!!!! Traci

Hi All, Traci - I hope the kiddies are OK and the baby doesn't get strep!! Keep yourself healthy too - take some Airborne!! I had an extremely carby day yesterday - I ate with wild abandon. I'm disappointed in myself, but I also realize that I am a food addict and occasionally I am going to slip up. First thing this morning I went to the gym at work and did 2 miles on the treadmill - lots of uphill intervals. We're having our Thanksgiving dinner at work today - I'll try to stick with the turkey and avoid the pie. Then I have an afternoon meeting where they're bringing in cookies....it's going to be a tough day..... Hope you're all hanging in there!!! Hugs, Nancy

Ick - the children DO have strep. That means they're home tomorrow as well. *sigh* I'm praying we did not give this to my 3 month old grandbaby.

Hi Traci, I'm not doing so great today eating-wise. Gotta put the brakes on. For Thanksgiving, we go to my niece's house. Everyone brings something. I'm the potato lady....sweet potato casserole with marshmallows melted on top, and a huge batch of mashed whites. Of course we all end up bringing some sort of dessert too.... Still keeping up with the exercise, so it's not a total bust!!! Hugs, Nancy
