Here's today's menu: B: one egg and some chicken, V-8, coffee S: zucchini slices with lite Laughing Cow cheese L: big salad with tuna, black olives, cucumbers, canneloni beans, chick peas, salad dressing S: FF yogurt with kiwi D: Tacoless chicken (all the ingredients from a taco, without the shell), broccoli S: SF Jello with some FF Greek yogurt and Cool Whip Hugs to all - I'm hoping we'll see some July babies popping their heads in to say hello for our 4 year anniversaries. Denise - I didn't get on this weekend, but I wanted to comment on your post. It's not being selfish or obsessive to take care of yourself. In the long run, you are all you have and you alone must decide on how you want to live your life. Your health is the most important thing - how can you help anyone else if you don't take care of YOU??? Get yourself in order and on a good plan. Your family and friends will have to see that you are healthier and happier and whether they approve or not is really not your problem. I have issues I'm dealing with too, and sometimes I think the only thing I have true control over is whether I want to eat like a crazed person or like a healthy person. I'm choosing the healthy right now, and guess what - making that choice is also making me a happy person. Hang in there kiddo!! Nancy

Use fitday... exercise... protein first... focus on me for a change. I've spent the last few stressful months focusing on my family and all their drama. When I first had the surgery they accused me of being obssessed with weight loss. All I thought about was weight loss and counting protein, exercise and the obesity website. I was on point during that time because I put me first. I'm drawing a line in the sand today, and I'm giving myself permission to put me first and once again be obssessed with weight loss. So what does that mean? It means there will not be any white carbs or sugar in the house. My family can go elsewhere and get it if they want it. I will no longer be the one to fix crises. My new line with my teenaged daughter is "that's not my issue." For example, she is in summer school. I give her a weekly allowance for lunch. Last week she chose to blow it by Wednesday on junk food. On Thursday she announced to me that she didn't have lunch money and would starve if I didn't do something. My answer, "not my issue." I'm going to allow grown folks and almost grown folks to solve their on problems. I'm giving myself permission to be selfish and back away from catering and taking action items to solve problems from those around me. I've got my own problems. I've got to get back on track and finally lose the weight my doctor wanted me to. I can't do it when I allow the folks around me to stress me out with trivial drama. The long and short of it. I'm obssessed with me and I'm okay with that. Here's what I'm eating today.. Breakfast: Tilipa/Natural Applesauce (my favorite meal) Snack: AchievOne Lunch: Steamed Shrimp, Romaine Lettuce, SF Dressing Snack: AchievOne Dinner: Steak Snack: AchievOne Crsytal lite all day along Protein 128 Carbs 31 Fat 38 Calories 1063 Exercise: 90 minutes of intense water aerobics So what's your goal today and are you focusing on you for a change! Hugs! ME

Very interesting and not too different from South Beach other than on SBD you need to eat around 4 cups of veggies per day (most included except starchy ones like corn and potatoes) and you are encouraged to eat some healthy fats like nuts, olives, olive oil, natural pb - of course guidelines are provided for amounts. You can eat sweet potatoes in Phase 2 (which is two weeks after Phase 1). When you start Phase 2 you can add one fruit or a slice of whole wheat bread, or steel cut oatmeal each week working up to three servings per day. Once you're on Phase 3 (or maintenance) you can really eat whatever you want, but hopefully the SBD has become a way of eating you can pretty much stick with. Many people have a treat day and eat ice cream or something like that. I was never much of a veggie person and the SBD has helped me find veggies that I like and I've never eaten so many!! I've found the SBD has helped me to control my eating - no more grazing. When I was binging I was eating all day long - boxes of cookies, candy bars - so much sugar that I would be physically sick, but I couldn't stop. That's what tells me that I am a sugar-holic. When you are ingesting something that is making you ill and you still can't stop, that's a sickness. So I guess my goal, one day at a time, is to stay away from sugar and processed carby white foods. Those are the foods that I am 'allergic' to and which set me off on a path of destruction!! Do I miss them? Yes, at times I miss them terribly. But I quit smoking 8 years ago and still get cravings for cigarettes. The cravings are fleeting, so I hope that will happen with the food too. Thanks Denise for posting the plan. It's always good to have another go-to in case things stall out. It's also good to keep your body guessing. I find sometimes if I am on a plateau, switching off to a different diet shakes the body up and you start losing again. Hugs, N.

You know I wish you luck Denise, and I know you can do it!! I've done the 5 day pouch test a couple of times and while the first day of any diet is the most difficult, I didn't find it that awful. It is a great way to detox from the sugar and processed foods. What is the Protein Train? I never heard of that. it's a Woo Hoo day for me today - 179.6 - back in the 170's after many moons! That takes me down 13 lbs. in about 5-1/2 weeks. Here's the plan for today: B: some leftover Chicken Alfredo, tomato juice, coffee S: plain NF yogurt with Splenda and a few walnuts L: tuna on tossed green salad S: lite Jarlesburg cheese, 1/2 apple D: filet mignon, tossed salad, broccoli S: SF Jello - cool whip I found that once I started eating small meals every 3-4 hours the weight started coming off again. That seems to be the trick. I also increased my water. Have a great day everyone!! Hugs, Nancy
