Hi Monna, and happy anniversary!!
It's wonderful to hear from you and wonderful that your life, and that of your children is now a healthy and happy one!
Like Denise says, it doesn't matter our chronological age - it's all how young we allow ourselves to feel!! My mother always called me Peter Pan and for awhile it was a bad thing, but now I consider it a compliment!!
What a great bunch of people we have here on the July 2004 site!!
I hope you'll pop in often and let us know how you're doing!
Hugs,
Nancy

Hey Mona!
Congratulations... what a wonderful testimony for your entire family. Guess what? You may be X in chronological age, but I bet now you are about 30 in age physiologically speaking! So go out and paint the town red... you deserve it...
All the best!
Denise
Topic: Anniversary
Hi July siblings--
One week past my 4 year mark and life is good. After my abdominoplasty in Dec. I got down to 185--204 lbs lost. I gained a little back, but am maintaining between 190 and 200. I started teaching in the nursing program at our local JC in February. Unbeknownst to me, my boss talked about me in class one day--she knows I have been very open with my students about my journey. Anyway, she told them she thought I was a remarkable woman--she knew me prior to WLS.
I had my heart fixed in December, 2006, and discovered I hadn't been lazy all my life. I just had a heart that didn't work right. Now it does, and I'm old. What a ***** I'm really not complaining--just wi**** all could have happened when I was in my 30's.
My daughter had WLS in Aug. 2007 and she has lost 100 lbs. She is so happy. She is getting married next June and she has had such a great time trying on wedding dresses.
My son had WLS in Dec. 2007 and has lost 125 lbs. It took him a long time to make the decision to have the surgery, but he is so happy now. He still has 100 lbs. to go, but he is looking so good.
Happy anniversary to everyone. I could never have done all I have done without your prayers and support.
Monna

Topic: RE: Upcoming my 4 Year Anniversary of WLS...and not so good
Happy Anniversary Nancy,
I am living your story. My goal weight was 155. I got down to 163 about a year ago, down from 291 when I had the surgery but have gradually gained about 25lbs over the last year. I am now at 186, and need to do somthing desperately. I am beginning to panic!!
I will start posting my daily food like you do. I am starting the 5 day pouch diet today!!

Topic: 4 years tomorrow!
Wow! What a change that has taken place in four years. I was 266 prior to surgery, 276 was my highest known weight. I was 145 on my wedding day in October of 2005. I got down to 141 (for a day or two) around November/December of 2005 but quickly bounced up to 147-152. I got pregnant in May and was actually told to eat more as I wasn't gaining much weight. 2 weeks before delivery I had gained about 24 pounds. I had some complications and due to them put on 17 more pounds in 5 day (while not being able to eat or drink anything.) At my 6 week check up I was down to 163. Unfortunately I've put on 7 pounds in the past 18 months. I was on steroids for awhile due to some severe reactions to my iron infusions and let some bad habits back in. I'm working getting rid of those now.
I had a few medical issues that developed during pregnancy #1. My ferritin was a 2 after I had my son so I had to have iron infusions. My last infusion was in March and I'm happy to say that my ferritin actually went up this past month on it's own from my oral supplements. It was 212 last week! I also developed an internal hernia and have been told that it could be fatal if I don't have it repaired prior to getting pregnant again. I had severe problems with this and it went undiagnosed during my first pregnancy. Well, after fighting with the insurance company they have finally approved my original surgeon to do the surgery. No one here in West Virginia would touch me to repair it. That is schedule for July 25th. We will begin trying for baby #2 as soon as we get the go ahead from Dr. Abkin.
In the meantime, I've just started working on a master's program in educational leadership that should be done by next spring.
My WLS has changed my life in so many ways. Despite my few complications, I'd not change a thing. Dr. Abkin will always be one of my favorite heroes for giving me so much.

Topic: RE: Goal for today
Welcome back, Denise - I missed you!! It's bad enough being only the two of us, but when there's only one of us, it's REALLY lonely!!
I'm glad you did well while you were away - hey, we always have the ability to be in control. Sometimes it's harder than others, but we can do it.
Here's the plan for today:
B: cottage cheese with cinnamon and Splenda, tomato juice, coffee
S: string cheese
L: salad with tuna, and asstd. veggies
S: lite Jarlesberg cheese, 1/2 apple
D: salmon, broccoli, asparagus
D: ricotta cheese, Splenda, vanilla flavor
Hope everyone has a great day!!
Hugs,
Nancy

Topic: Goal for today
This is my second attempt to post... having some technical difficulties.
Anyway, I'm back from my trip. I didn't gain, thank God! I walked a lo****ched what I ate, although I did slip in a fewwhite carbs. So my plan for the next two days is strictly protein.
Come on out July lurking July babies!!
Hugs!
