Topic: Checking in....
OK it's Friday - where is everyone?????
Tomorrow - 7/19 - is my 4 year surgery anniversary. I can't believe it!! What a wonderful gift I was given. Sure, I have to work at it now, but that's OK - I was given a great jump start and now I just need to maintain. How fortunate I am to have been given back my life!!
There have been so many changes in these past four years: I have grown in confidence and in health and I feel like I really have a life now. When I want to drown my sorrows in a big bowl of ice cream, I really try to think of where I was prior to my surgery....sick and tired and miserable. I NEVER want to go back there and if I do this one day at a time, I never will have to go back.
Love to all of my July surgery friends!!!
Nancy

Topic: RE: Wednesday's goal...
Hi Denise,
Way to go on the exercise Denise. Once you see those pounds start to come off, you'll stay in your routine.
I've been slipping a little bit myself, so it's time for me to get back on board. I haven't been eating white carbs or sugar, but I went to town on some pistaschio nuts and SF pudding and have gained a couple of pounds back (amazing how quickly they can come on, and how slowly they come off).
I got rid of the rest of the nuts and will snack on my fruits and veggies, which I can control. I just don't want to undo all the good I've done.
Here's today's plan:
B: Eggbeaters with some lf cheese, V-8, coffee
S: zucchini with hummus
L: salad with chicken breast and lots of veggies
S: lite Swiss cheese with 1/2 apple
D: Turkey taco meat with broccoli and tossed salad
S: Greek yogurt with 2T natural peanut butter
AND I'M STICKIN' TO IT!!!!!
Hugs,
Nancy

Well... I got up and exercised today. Yesterday I slipped a little bit with carbs, I'm back on protein today. Hopefully, I can get back into the routine of protein first & exercise all in the same day!!
Have a great day!
Hugs!

Nancy,
You look so beautiful--just like Peter Pan.
When I do the questions on RealAge.com I am about 75 (really I'm only 63), but I feel like I'm 30. I can't run, but I can walk all day. We went camping the first week of July and it was a 3 mile walk from our campground to the beach to swim. I walked all the way, but my 10 year grandson rode in a wagon the last 2 miles. Then he said he walked 3 miles--told him, I walked it, but he didn't. My husband and daughter kept asking me if I wanted to rest--think it was them that wanted to rest. Anyway, it made me feel great!!!

Denise,
I read your posts pretty often. I admired you gals (haven't seen too much from our July brothers) who have issues, but keep plugging to let you pouches do the jobs they were meant to do. I wish my doc had given me a little bit smaller pouch. I still dump with sweets so that helps to keep me honest.
I love my July group so much and wish we could all live where we could meet in person. I could never have gotten so far without all of you.

Way to go Denise!! I know you can stick to it - sometimes it's just tough the first day or two, but once you get the sugar/processed foods out of your system, you won't crave them anymore. Then, once the weight starts to drop, you'll feel SOOOOO motivated!
Hang in there!!!

Hey Nancy!
Glad to see you on the board, my consistent friend! Yesterday was a really good day. I stuck to protein. Didn't get back on the exercise trail yet. I'll start that tomorrow. Today...all protein again. I think I'm in a groove with that.
Have a great day!!!
Denise

Hi all,
It's nice to see a few people checking in here - I love seeing some familiar faces and hearing how everyone is doing.
I'm continuing on with the South Beach Diet - I've been going off a little bit, not really eating sugary or processed foods, but eating more than I should, so I'm going to try to nip that in the bud today and fine tune it a bit.
Here's the plan for today:
B: Eggbeaters with lf cheese, V-8, coffee with ff half-and-half
S: Zucchini chips with hummus
L: Large tossed salad with tuna salad, beans, salad dressing
S: lite Jarlesberg cheese, 10 grapes
D: Beef and mushroom stew, broccoli
S: SF jello pudding and 2 T Cool Whip
I'm hoping I can stick to it today. I also take two 40-minute walks per day.
How's everyone doing?
Hugs,
Nancy

Hi Jennifer,
Happy 4 Year Anniversay, and congrats on the marriage and the new little one!!
It sounds like you've had some struggles, but I think most of us here have in one way or another.
I'm glad you found someone to repair the hernia - I'll bet you'll be glad when that's over and done with!
I hope things continue to go well for you and please check in and let us know how you're doing!!
Hugs,
Nancy
