Topic: RE: Does Anyone remember me????
Hi Lisa - sure I remember you!
Please don't feel defeated!! I think a lot of us are struggling - whether it is to lose 50 lbs. or 5 lbs.
I feel like I can eat just about everything - sometimes I'll eat something and lo and behold, I will get sick with the foamies and all, but that is few and far between. If I do what I'm supposed to and eat protein first and avoid 'slider' foods, I find my pouch works much better.
I've been doing the South Beach diet and have lost about 17 lbs. since the end of May. I'm happy with that, but I haven't lost anything in the past couple of weeks. I still have about 8 more I'd like to lose. I know it's me - my portions are getting larger and while I am sticking to South Beach approved foods, I'm eating a lot more of them. So, once again, I have to get back on track.
Have you tried the 5 day pouch test? I've done it a couple of times and it sort of helps get back into the way we ate right after surgery. You might want to try it.

I also think it's important to have a support group - whether it's online or wherever...
You can do whatever you set your mind to - remember, no food tastes as good as being thin and healthy feels!!
Hugs and keep in touch,
Nancy

I recognize a few of you.... and congrats! My four year anniversary is tomorrow, and my husband's brother is going in for his surgery tomorrow!!! I am still very glad I did the surgery, but I have gained alot of weight back, and didnt ever loose what I thought I would. I started at 360, went as low at 282, and am at 312 now. I can and do drink CF diet coke with meals, can eat alot, etc. I know a lot of it is me working the program. Sometimes I feel like such a complete FAILURE. I want to go back to basics with my brother in law, starting with the CIB. I just am so dissapointed in myself. Is there anyone out there who is a "heavyweight" and didnt loose like they thought they would or gained a lot back? I feel like I need the surgery all over again... but I know that cant happen. What have I done??! If I go back to basics, will my stomache shrink again? I would love some advice and help. And, there is no food I cant eat or tolerate. I hope that this finds you all well. Happy Anniversary and new Birthday to everyone.
Very Sincerely,
Your sister in Surgery,
Lisa from MA

Teah, my friend - it's so great to hear from you!!! You have such a beautiful family!
You look gorgeous and happy - what a wonderful gift this surgery has been for so many of us. Way to go on the exercise and journaling. I try to do the same - I think of how many people out there would love to have the surgery and I feel guilty if I don't take it very seriously.
I hope you'll check in often and say hi!!
Love ya!
Nancy

Topic: Happy Anniversary!!!
My 4 year anniversary is monday!!!! 7/28/08.
I can't believe its been 4 years. My daughter found an old picture of me at the beach before WLS and she said mommy who is this? SHe just turned 3 by the way and she has never known me when I was that size.
So I have the picture in my purse and I periodically showed it to my sisters and nieces. One of my nieces said I can't even remember when you looked that way. I only remember you like you are now! With that said, its amazing to me, I don't even think about being the way I was before.
Its a lifestyle and I am happy I made the change. Most weeks I work out 5 days and I track my food to make sure I am eating healthy. How is everyone?
Love
Teah

I'm checking in a couple of days late. I don't normally make it this far as I've been more focused on my surrogate journey, but do pop in from time to time. I'm more of a lurker now. Actually, I'm hoping to make it to the OH event at the Mall of America next weekend and reconnect w/other OH members.
I had made it down to my goal of 125, but had regained to 132 (not too terribly bad). I'm now 10wks post partum and sitting at 138.2. I wouldn't mind getting back down to the 125, but I'd be happy w/130. My WLS is still an active part of my life and I've been a big advocate of it and try to educate as well as share my story w/other's whenever I can.

Hey Nancy...
I guess folks have moved on with their lives and weight loss is no longer an issue for them. I think this is a lifetime issue for me ... up and down... up and down... but at least I'm not up as high as I used to be!
Have a great day, my friend!
Hugs!

I'm kind of surprised that there aren't more July babies checking in for our anniversaries. I suppose people have moved on, I'm just so curious to see how people are doing.
Hugs,
Nancy
