Topic: RE: Cravings - what do you do????
Hi Nancy, I replied last night but I guess the reply left!!!! I was saying that at my age I am still learning and trying to figure out what to do!!!! This last week I've really been focusing on my pouch and how it physically feels. It's amazing how full I am if I think about it, and Im sure cutting out D. Coke and drinking with meals helps. The other night I took my book outside and read on the deck. Something I never do...(well I ALWAYS read, but usually on lunch breaks and weekends). I really enjoyed it, and food was the last thing on my mind. I guess just trying to refocus. And, I always try not to feel guilty if I do splurge. Remember to accept it, and get right back on track. Im right there with you!!!! Love Lisa

Topic: Cravings - what do you do????
I'm just wondering what you do when you get cravings for sweets or white processed foods? I don't get them that often but when I do, they seem to come with a vengence and can last for days! Does anyone have any hints or tips? Sometimes I try to water load and other times I just have to give myself permission to try a little bit of the food I'm craving and hope it doesn't trigger an all out binge. Hugs, Nancy

Topic: RE: Today's Menu
Hi Lisa, I screwed up yesterday and ate a BIG bag of kettlecorn - can you believe I gained 3 lbs from that??? I'm sure a lot of that is the salt, but still I was 179.8...ugh. I SWORE to myself I would never let myself get above 180 again, and I'm DANGEROUSLY close. I'm definitely getting back on board with my South Beach and really working on portion control. Here's my plan for today: B: Eggbeaters with LF shredded cheddar, 6 oz. V-8 juice, coffee with skim milk Bottle of water Snack: Zucchini slices with Jalepeno hummus Bottle of water L: Lettuce wraps with sliced chicken, mushrooms, tomato, roasted red pepper and 1 T salad dressing Bottle of water Snack: lite Jarlesberg cheese and slivered almonds Bottle of water D: Either: Big tossed salad with salmon, mushrooms, roasted red peppers, etc. OR leftover turkey chili and a side salad Bottle of water Dessert: yogurt with 1 Tbs. natural peanut butter As you can see, I'm also planning my water since I've very been lax about that. As far as exercise, I walk my dogs for 40 minutes as soon as I get up in the morning, and another 40 minutes after dinner. I hope everyone has a happy and HEALTHY day! Hugs, Nancy

Lisa, I'm so proud of you!! It isn't easy to get through those five days, so you should really be patting yourself on the back. I think the biggest help is to be aware of what we are eating. Have you ever journaled your food on fitday.com? That website helps you to know how much protein, carbs, calories etc. you are getting from your food. You know what? You've motivated me to get back on track. I've been doing OK with the South Beach diet, but my portion control has gotten out of hand!! I'm getting back on track today starting with making a big crockpot of turkey chili for dinner tonight. I had eggbeaters and 1 slice of turkey bacon for breakfast and for lunch I'm making a lettuce wrap with mushrooms, salmon slices, a bit of salad dressing, black olives and roasted red peppers...yum!! Lisa, if you're interested we can start a daily post of our menus for the day - it sure helps keep me on track. Let me know and again....YOU GO GIRL!!!! Hugs, Nancy

And it really works!!!!!! WOW!!!! I havent been able to eat this little in two years. When I shop and choose foods, I look for High protein and low in sugar. If its anymore than 8g of sugar then I pass on it. So Ive refocused on protein. I am on the "sixth" day now. Here is what I had B: 1 packet weight control ban br oatmeal w 3/4 c. milk at work 20 oz of Powerade L: Compleats meals chili mac S: Small wheat syrian bread with one slice LOL cheese from the deli, 6 Hormel chicken slices.... could only eat half! I know I need to get more water in for today, Ive just been real busy. How does this menu look??? How is everyone else doing?? Looking forward to responses... 388/292.8/200 Lisa in MA

Topic: RE: Thanks Nancy...End of Day 2 of 5 Day pouch test
Lisa - good for you!!! See, you can do it if you set your mind to it. We are WAY stronger than we think! Once you get the sugar and bad carbs out of your system, you really won't miss them much. I just keep reminding myself how much I hate to feel like a failure and how great I feel about everything when I'm good to myself and eat in a reasonable manner. I think you'll find, once you start on the solid proteins, like tuna (with no mayo) that your pouch works just fine. Give your BIL a thumbsup. And good idea getting him up for a walk!! Keep checking in and I will too!! Hugs, Nancy

Topic: Thanks Nancy...End of Day 2 of 5 Day pouch test
Thank you Nancy for the post. I am now done day 2 of the 5 day pouch test. I went to the store after work today and come some string cheese, chick peas, yogurt, sf pudding with fruit. These past two days I stuck to just CIB and flavored water. I am hungry. But, I know I need this to get back on track. My brother in law did well Monday. I saw him Monday night in the recovery room. He was in a bit of pain and they were bringing in his sleep apnea machine because his level was 90-91. Hubby went and saw him today and said he was in pain but doing okay. I have Friday off so I plan on going to his house and seeing what I can do to help. I told him we were going for a short walk. I will check back regularly now, and lean on this tool as I have in the past. Thanks everyone...God Bless.. Lisa
