I'll be checking in on Monday!
I Just did my walk away the pounds. I made my husband get on the scale tonight so we are going to work on losing weight together. I am excited because he is very big guy. The only thing bad about this is that a his uncle had to die from a heart attack and other things to sorta scare him to get healthy. I am trying to help him with eating slower and small bites and to enjoy what we are eating. I hope we will keep up the good work with this. We are getting all the pop out of the house. And get all the junk out of the cupboards.
I am going to work on drinking water.
Take all my vitamins.
Work out at least 6 days a week.
And be accountable for what I do.
My Goal weight for now will be 199.9
See Ya All Lighter :)

I can relate to feeling "sick and depressed". We need to get back on track. I saw my pc on Monday, trying to convince her that I have a thyroid condition -- she said "no -- you're just like the rest of us now and you need to eat right and exercise". Hmmm....how many times have I heard that one? I need to go back to see her mid-February, so I promised her I'd work really hard to take off some weight between now and then. I won't, of course, even try to lose this week, but starting Jan 1 -- I'm determined to get this weight off!
I haven't heard about the procedure where they cauterize the stoma to make it smaller. I still get very full and sick when I eat protein...but not when I eat carbs. So, I don't eat much protein because it makes me uncomfortable -- but I do eat a lot of carbs -- which I'm sure is the reason I've gained weight. I've also found that sugar doesn't bother me much unless I eat a huge quantity, so that means I can eat cookies and candy...which has always been a big trigger for me.
WHY CAN'T THIS BE EASY????
Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, Nancy. Don't think about all this until after that -- let's keep in touch!

Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and I'll definitely be back on 12/29!!!!
It's me, again! I'm in the same boat. I've gained 30 lbs. over the past year after maintaining my goal weight for 3 years! What the heck? I'm going to see my pc physician tomorrow, so hopefully she'll be able to help me with a 'plan'. Let's touch base after the holidays and see if we can work together to do something for ourselves. This is craziness!
Have a safe and happy holiday, don't stress about the weight gain. We can get it off again!

So I've been off on a food bender. I finally had the guts to weigh myself and I'm 197!!! OMG - that's like I put on 20 lbs. in three months!! I'm trying to get back on track, but with me it's all or nothing - nothing is in moderation. So, I'm trying to be a little careful - I'm going to try to cut out the sugar and eat more protein.
I am planning on doing the 5DPT on January 2. After that, I plan to do the South Beach diet - I did very well on that.
So - anyone want to join me?????
Merry Christmas to all and a Happy and Healthy New Year!!

Hi Jess,
I'm in the same place as you and Gail and I'm sure a lot of other RNY people.
It seems like I am either rigidly following a diet or off and eating badly - I have a very difficult time with moderation. I've been thinking of going back to fitday.com where I religiously posted everything I ate after my surgery and following that for a couple of weeks. I don't know how healthy that would be. Anyway, I am definitely toying with the idea of a liquid diet - protein drinks, beef broth, etc and seeing what happens.
Whatever I end up deciding to do I'm starting on Monday, 10/27....anyone who cares to join me is very welcome!!
I'm in a similar place as you. I had my surgery 7/28/04 and went from 252 to 135. Gained 5 lbs., up to 140, within the first 6 months. Then I maintained 140 for 2 years. Just last Fall, I started gaining...a sudden 6 lb. gain...and then it kept rising. I'm currently at 162 and freaking out! I know that I need to exercise more, but I'm also worried I'm going to gain back all the weight! I did the 5 Day Pouch Test a few weeks back, lost 5 lbs., and as soon as I started eating again, the 5 lbs. came back on. So, I don't know if that's the answer. I guess, as we both know, the answer is just to eat less and exercise more...haven't they been telling us that FOREVER???? I'm planning to re-join my Jazzercise class next week. As much as I hate it, I have to do it! I'm starting to feel lazy and sluggish...I miss the high energy I had at 140 lbs.!
Hope to see you around here, Jess. We're all here to support each other!
