meds adjusted
I saw my PCP for the second time since surgery. I saw him at 2 weeks post op and I am now 11 1/2 weeks post op.
I left the hospital off of all diabetes medication. Went from 3 oral meds to zero for diabetes. He had been talking about switching me to injectible meds but was willing to wait and see what the surgery did.
Today he cut my cholesterol medication in half. Last visit lab results showed my LDL at 59, HDL at 38. I'm looking forward to the day when he tells me I don't need the Lovastatin at all.
He was also very impressed with my weight loss. He asked me what I'm doing for clothes. I told him I'm shopping the back of my closet.
Some more good news he gave me was further support for taking the calcium citrate. I am prone to kidney stones thanks in part to a medication I take for another medical condition. Pre-op I was taking 5 tablets per day of a medication to increase the citric acid level of my urine to prevent the formation of stones. I had to stop taking it because the tablets were too big for me to swallow, they were extended release, AND they would have pretty much filled my pouch leaving little room for food. My doctor told me today that the calcium citrate just might be giving me enough citric acid to keep the stones at bay. I have to do a 24 hour urine this weekend so he can check my levels. I haven't had a bad stone episode in almost 2 years and I'd like to keep it that way.
