One benefit is tha****er aerobics allows a person to exercise every muscle and every joint in the body all at the same time. Another benefit is tha****er aerobics are cooler as the water cools off your body the entire time you are performing your routine. This is definitely a plus factor, especially in the summertime heat, or if you live in a part of the country that is hotter than other areas. The last and probably most important benefit of water aerobics is that almost anyone, no matter their age, can perform water aerobics. The reason for this is because the water causes your body to be buoyant, thus causing less strain and stress on your joints and muscles. Don't worry, though, you still get the maximum work out when you perform water aerobics. A person does not need to know how to swim in order to take advantage of water aerobic exercises either. He or she can wear one of many devices that will enable them to stay afloat with little effort. This is turn enables the person to be able to concentrate on his or her routine. Plus, it helps to eliminate the fear of a mishap in the water, especially in the deep water. Water aerobics are generally performed in water that is up to a person's waist or maybe even up to their chest, depending on the specific exercise they are doing. Jogging in the water, for example, is done in deeper water so that a person's body stays completely emerged. The ideal location in which to perform water aerobics is in an indoor swimming pool where the water temperature is controlled. Any indoor swimming pool will suffice, though. Outside ponds or lakes can be used, but an indoor pool is preferred. And, remember to always follow the safety rules of swimming when you are performing water aerobics. The most important rule is to follow the buddy system and never swim or perform water aerobics alone. So, if you need a new exercise routine to tone up and slim down your body, you might consider water aerobics! So what have you done today? My usual... water aerobics... 1 hr at least 5 days per week... I love it... Climbing up and down 200 stairs... Jogging 30 minutes Knee to Chest exercises 100 reps Tricep curls Bicep curls I have plantar facitis in both feet (UGH!), so exercising on land is a little painful... so for therapy, my WLS surgeon pushed water therapy and I've been bouncing around the pool at 5:00 am every since... Have a great weekend!!! Denise 326/222/170 -104 52 lbs to go!

Boy, I wish I had access to some sort of water aerobics, but there's nothing in my area. I love the water - I would never even thought of going out in public in a bathing suit for a lot of years, but probably would be willing to try now it if there was a pool available.... So, I'll have to be content to exercise on land! I did the 2 mile WATP WalkBlaster this morning. If I get my new tapes today, I'll do one of them this evening - if I don't get them, I just might take a night off! Hugs, Nancy 280/172/155

What I thought might be a heel spur is plantar fasciitis. I can do the Gazelle for a liitle while, but then the pain is too great. I have really been working on stretching my Achilles tendons and hope in a month or so the pain will stop. I cannot take anything but narcotics for pain and this is not severe enough to resort to that. So I deal with the pain. I have changed shoes as I had gotten new ones and they seemed to aggravate the problem. Anyway, my cardio workouts are suffering. Woke up with a migraine so did not go to the gym--missed the recumbent bike, but knew I could not do weight lifting with my head pounding. Hope to get 60 minutes total on the Gazelle today and some weight exercise tonight. Seems like every time I get to really going on a good exercise regimen, something happens to set me back. If the weather were warner I would go bike riding. No pool in this community so water aerobics is not an option. I will figure something out. If any of you have suggestions, I am certainly open for any help. Monna

Hi Monna: I went to a foot specialist referred by my doctor and he gave me custom insoles to wear in my shoes. I wore a foot brace at night for awhile that seemed to alleviate the pain. In small doses, as long as I wear the insoles I can walk. Other than that any kind of aerobics must be done in the water or on nonpounding equipment. The eliptical (sp?) works well for awhile. The tread mill is a killer on my feet, even with the insoles. Have a great weekend... Denise
