Problems with food this late?
For the longest time now, I've been able to eat fairly normal sized portions of most types of foods. All of a sudden, the last couple of weeks, I'm starting to have trouble even finishing off a protein shake. On top of that, I've been dumping on things that never used to bother me. I still get hungry, but after I've eaten, food totally grosses me out to where if I see it, I want to puke...until hunger kicks in again. Also, my intestines are quite full of air these days, if you catch my drift...
Has anyone else had this happen to them, where they feel like they just had surgery? I guess this would be a good thing, if I hadn't all but given up on exercise this month (the weird weather has given me bad sinus headaches that have kept me from doing much). I'm just wondering if this is fairly common, or if there's something wrong with me.

Hi Pamela!
I've had that windy feeling lately too, especially with protein shakes. I can't tolerate them any more, not without blowing St. Louis away! I'm living in Univesity City these days. The only thing I've done right lately is exercise. I still work out at least 5 days a week for 1 hr. in the pool. My eating is awful. I can eat almost anything (and sadly, I do!), which accounts for my being stuck at a loss of only 102 lbs. I'm grateful for my loss, but I still need to lose 54 more lbs to get to my doctor's goal and 74 to get to my goal! I'm grateful also that I haven't gained, which is a real shocker. I've even been to the Creamery, which is a place in The Loop that custom makes ice cream with all the trimmings. My weakness: French Vanilla, pecans and chocolate chips! Funny thing, I can handle ice cream, but not protein shakes! This week I plan to try the plateau buster, though frankly, if I would just back away from the sugar and carbs, I think the weight will start to come off again. Consider the fact that your pouch is talking to you a blessing. I'll bet you'll lose quite a bit during this phase. Don't give up on exercise... my skin is pretty tight, and I know it's because I've been exercising... the only thing I've done precisely as the doctor prescribed!

P.S. -- If you find yourself near the city, please drop me a line, I'd love to meet you in person....
I've noticed that I've been changing in odd ways too. From all my experience with other post-ops farther out than us, it's normal. Just as our outward appearance changes in unexpected ways, so does our internal anatomy. Enjoy the discoveries, Pamela!

P.S. You might want to look at your diet and see if there are any of the "notorious" offenders for creating abdominal gas in your diet (lactose, sugar alcohols, etc.) and see if eliminating them helps - only if it bothers you, of course! Sometimes the honking is worth it.... LOL!!!
