One of the most exciting things about my weight loss was the expectation that I would some day fit into amusement park rides. Well, last Friday was the big day for me and I am overly pleased to report that I fit into any and every ride that I wanted to!!! That's the great part...however, I have lost the "get your belly" sensation that usually accompanies a rollercoaster ride I have absolutely no dropping feeling in my stomach, which is what made the rides so fun to begin with! Has anyone else experienced this? Carol 365/226/165

I'm glad you were able to get back onto the rides you like...but I'm also sorry that it just wasn't as much fun for you as it used to be...that kinda sucks... I can only dream of going on rides...since I was diagnosed with benign positional vertigo...I'm on a permanent amusement park ride I'm always so dizzy...I'm wondering if one year it might get so bad that I have to give up driving etc...*sigh* Go on some rides for me soemday, please! I miss them! Linda 268/145.5 BELOW GOAL! and.....ENGAGED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (wedding date set: August 5th, 2006!)

Linda Hijack! So, do you take antivert for your dizziness? Have you seen a physical therapist that specializes in BPPV? I'm an audiologist, and I do electronystagmography testing on dizzy people, and I work with an ear, nose, and throat specialist. Has anything helped your dizziness? Just curious. Diana

Hiyas Diana I had been prescribed a medication when I was first diagnosed (forgot the name of it) and was told it only helps 30% of the people who take it...it didn't help me...LOL...so far nothing has helped at all, I was diagnosed over 2 years ago and it's just getting worse...they say it is caused by the filia in the labrynth of the ear being broken off and bent etc....and there's nothing that can be done. I will be making an appointment with another ENT soon, mainly for my throat but will be having him check my ears again too, since I have had problems with them since November (went to the Poconos and since going through the mountains they always feel plugged and they click when my jaw moves) *sigh* I'm falling apart! There are exercises for me to do when the vertigo is really bad, but I get very scared and nauseas when I do them...plus they don't really help anyways...and it's really no fun to experience the sensation of the entire room closing in on you Basically...think of the worst case of drunken bedspins you've ever had, and multiply that by about 1000...that's my dizziness. I was on the rides at Universal in CA and didn't have that feeling. Those rides are not particularly the ones that would give butterflies. But since I didn't always have that feeling, I can't say if I lost it. irene

I'm glad that you were able to fit! I'm hoping that I'll be able to fit on rides this summer. I might be able to squeeze onto them now, but I'd prefer not to worry about it. And personally, I hate that belly sensation! Unfortunately, I still have it and even get dizzy driving 30 miles an hour on a hilly road. Can't win them all... Pamela 352/251/150

Carol, that's awesome! That was one of my "hope to do after WLS" things...fit comfortably in an amusement park ride. Though I have yet to find out, I'm thinking I should be OK. My waste is now a 40! Hee hee!!! As for the dropping feeling, I'll let you know once I've tried out a mama jama of a roller coaster! Great job, and congrats on this NSV!!! All the love, Jeff 338/221/188 -117

I'm so happy for you! That is one of my goals too; I used to love roller coasters and had to give them up. We're planning a trip this summer before our move to Hawaii and dh is wanting to hit Six Flags. I'm still not sure if I'll fit into the rides, but I know I'll be able to walk the park without thinking they're trying to kill me! I wore out my dh and kids at the zoo on mothers day so I should be able to handle an amusement park ~Tanja 448/282/148

Hi Carol, Isnt it a nice feeling!!? Over April vacation we took the kids to our Six Flags (New England) and I got on the new Mr. Sixes Pandamonium roller coaster. I fit!! Last year I wouldnt have even tried. I also rode the Scrambler which I havent been able to do in a while. The joker ride I still didnt fit into which brought back a lot of embarrasing feelings, but Im getting there. We even bought our family season passes so we can keep going back and having some fun! My new goal: to fit in that darn joker ride by the end of the season!!! Again, good for you, glad you had fun!! Lisa in Mass 360/283.5/164
