Is anyone else NOT using the BMI chart for goal weights??
I have always had 170 as my goal weight. I realized I will have to weigh 166lbs to be "normal" according to the BMI chart. I have always weighed more than I look so I can't imagine being lower than 170. Is anyone in the same boat. Who knows, maybe when I get to 170 I'll want to go ahead and try for 166.

I AM using the BMI charts as my guidelines. The whole point for me to have this surgery was so that I could be healthy and have low health risks that are associated with being even 20lbs overweight. With that said, my first goal is set for 200. If I reached 200 and never lost another pound, I would be happy as far as my non-health issues (self-esteem, physical abilities) are concerned. So, that's where I'm headed, just 71lbs to go!

My personal goal has always been 150 lbs. - the BMI calculator says that my ideal weight is 147 lbs.. 150 lbs. would give me a BMI of 23.5, which is in the normal range - and I know I have to be realistic.
Personally I wouldn't mind having a buffer zone of about 10 lbs. - so maybe I'll change my goal to 147 - that would mean a total loss of 130 lbs. and 36 more to go.
I agree with you Tara, once I get a little closer to goal, maybe I'll reassess.

Tara, according to the BMI chart, I think I should weigh some ridiculous thing like around 165-170. I've set my goal at 188 (which is a loss of 150 pounds), and am hoping the PS will take off another 10-15, which should put me close to my BMI goal. To be honest with you, though, anything under 200 and I will LOOK and FEEL AWESOME! Keep it up, my friend! You'll be at your goal before you know it!
