Hi all, Just got back from my 5-week check-up with the dietician. All in all, I'm doing fine. But, she was surprised that I have only lost 23 lbs. I have been kind of disappointed at the weight loss myself, but figured at least it's going down...and I'm feeling really good! I told her I'm working out everyday at Curves, so she decided the reason it's not coming off as quick is because I'm building muscle. Does anyone have an opinion on that? Do you think it could be true? Otherwise, I'm eating between 400 - 600 cals and getting in plenty of protein and liquids. I don't know what else would be stalling my weight loss!? Any ideas? Some of us just lose slower, I guess. Also alot of initial weight loss for some people is water weight. Maybe we didn't have all tha****er to lose. We are such slaves to the scale aren't we? I weighed in at the Dr' yesterday and I was UP 2 pounds...doing the same thing you are. I think I am due for my period which is probably the reason...but it made me crazy. I decided I am going to stop being governed by the scale and find some other form of measurement as the weight will eventually come off. Try measuring inches and paying attention to the changes in your body. The scale is EVIL!!

Thanks for your reply, Marcy. Yes, the scale is evil! I work out at Curves and had them weigh and measure me just before surgery. I had them measure me again last Saturday and I've lost 11 inches. Not too bad! I can really notice the difference, but the weight thing has me really frustrated! Realistically I know that the scale will continue to go down...and that it doesn't really matter how long it takes...but aaarrrrggghhh...it's irritating! I think I need to just relax about it and it'll happen. My scale went up 1 pound the other day...but luckily it came back off the next day -- I was freaking out about that! I just went through menopause so I don't have a period anymore (it's a blessing and a curse). Now I don't have anything to blame weight gain on!!! (grin) Gail

Gail, I too am a slow loser, and my dietician had no idea why I wa****ting plateaus so quickly. My surgeon won't let me work-out with weights, so I am still stuck with the elliptical machine for 45 minutes, 6 days a week. I went 2.5 weeks without losing a pound, and then all of a sudden lat week, I lost 6. Moral of the story? Don't give up! You will drop weight if you are eating the right things and getting a workout 5-6 days a week. Good luck!
