Hi All, Sorry I've been absent a while. I just wanted to warn you all, to keep an eye out for Thrombophlebitis (Clots in the veins). I always knew that this is a complication of surgery, but I never thought I'd get them. We all know how important it is to WALK WALK WALK after sugery and thats just what I did, but lo behold, I did get them and that too 6 weeks after surgery. Just be on the look out for it cos it can sneak up on you. Look out for painful, burning legs, with or without redness, strange aches, or even worse, chest pains or shortness of breath. I was in the hospital last week and was started on blood thinning therapy. I'm now home but have to take a couple of shots of a blood thinner called Lovenox ($1200 for 14 doses ARGH ) in my abdomen, as well as a taking a few pills of Coumadin another blood thinner and antibiotics for the swollen leg veins. I just wanted to warn you all that always keep vigilant as to how your body is doing...even if you are several weeks out of surgery. Good Luck all!

Wow, I didn't realize the Lovenox cost that much! I took 2 shots a day for almost 2 weeks once I was home. Thankfully my insurance paid for it. I hope and pray you're feeling better! ~Tanja

I am sorry that you have been having problems, but I thank you for the reminder that we're all still hanging in the balance. I hope you recover quickly!

Hi, I'm glad you are home and feeling better. Thanks for the reminder on DVT's. It's easy to forget once we are home that we are still at risk! CJ

I am glad to hear that you are ok. Great Ideat to let everyone know. I am also six weeks out the thought of getting a blood clot at this stage never entered my mind. I hope all is well with you otherwise. Michelle F
