Not out of the water yet????
Hi All,
Sorry I've been absent a while. I just wanted to warn you all, to keep an eye out for Thrombophlebitis (Clots in the veins). I always knew that this is a complication of surgery, but I never thought I'd get them. We all know how important it is to WALK WALK WALK after sugery and thats just what I did, but lo behold, I did get them and that too 6 weeks after surgery. Just be on the look out for it cos it can sneak up on you. Look out for painful, burning legs, with or without redness, strange aches, or even worse, chest pains or shortness of breath. I was in the hospital last week and was started on blood thinning therapy. I'm now home but have to take a couple of shots of a blood thinner called Lovenox ($1200 for 14 doses ARGH ) in my abdomen, as well as a taking a few pills of Coumadin another blood thinner and antibiotics for the swollen leg veins. I just wanted to warn you all that always keep vigilant as to how your body is doing...even if you are several weeks out of surgery. Good Luck all!
