Oh, here is some information I did not know. My trainer told me and then come to find out people on the other board already knew. So here goes, did you know your body can only process 30 grams of protein at one time, if you do anymore it is wasted!!!!! I was doing two scoops of protein in 8 ozs of low carb soy milk. Now I only do a scoop and a 1/2 for 30 grams of protein. Tweedy

Hi Tweety- Great Info! I have a question though. Is that in one serving or throughout the day? I feel bad now because I was having 46 grams in my shake each morning and eating enough protein rich foods throughout the day to get to around 80 grams. Should I do 2 shakes a day now? Thanks- Dawn

Hey Dawn, It is just in one serving, not throughout the day. So if your serving is 46 grams of protein, you are loosing the other 16 grams. I am doing pretty much like you, the protein shake is kinda like my base (in the mornings) and then I build from there with protein rich foods. I do between 60 and 70 grams each day. 30 grams through the shake for breakfast, 28 grams with chicken at lunch 3.5 ozs, and another 20 or so in the evenings with chicken or egg salad or something. Hi Tweedy, Yes I was informed that anything over 25-28 grams of protein was a waste of money. I learned that before surgery from a few of the support groups I attend. It is better to split it up three times a day. Thanks for posting the info, I am sure there are others who may not have been aware of this info. ~Shelly

Tweedy - Thanks for posting the information. I did not know that 30 was the max limit for one serving. Good to know. Jules

TweedyBird This is a good feedback on Protein Drinks, I've been trying to get some information for a while my question is. I went to GNC I bought a protein drink with 4 containers they're 17 fl oz. (500 ml ) The protein drink is already made up you said we should only have 30 grams of protein well today. I drank to coffee cups of my protein drink is this to much or what. I drink Myoplex Chocolate Fudge 43g of Protein it has Whey Isolate in it and 2 g only 2 grams of sugar so what. I need to know how much of this should, I be drinking at 3 weeks and 6 days out ? Could you help me please thanks. Angela Harris

Hey Angela, The type of protein you are drinking is great! We absorb whey not soy so that is a plus. Just rememeber that per serving your body will only be able to absorb 30 grams of the 43 you are putting into your body. So if you broke it up and done the shakes a different time during the day that would give you the max on aborbtion. However, I am thinking that since this is alreay premixed, you will have this open can of shake left. If this is the case, then you have a problem. Your protein shake looses it's nutritional value after 30-45 min. Tweedy
