hey heather! i'm two weeks post-op and i can eat about 3oz. per meal. but i can only eat protein. so i get to eat a lot of cheese, meats, and eggs. it takes me about 20-30 mins to eat each meal. along with that i also drink about 64oz of water a day. i'm supposed to get about 60 grams of protein in a day. i usually try and drink a protein shake for a meal. that helps me out a ton! peace and love *~jenny~*

Hi Fellow July Babies: I had my surgery 7/21 - I'm almost 3 weeks post-op. I've lost 26 pounds since surgery, and I think I eat A LOT. I track on fitday.com and have gotten to more than 700 calories in one day! Today, I ate: 1 egg, 1 oz. cheese, baby food banana fruit V-8 Nectar protein drink Vegetable Beef Soup (not the broth) Chocolate Raspberry protein drink Dinner will be more veg beef soup with maybe applesauce. But I EASILY eat 4 oz. of cottage cheese & 3 oz. of tuna with mayo!

I had my surgery on 7/19. I am 3 weeks out. I can't eat much. I have 2 - 4 oz protein shakes each day, which gives me about 60g protein. It takes me an hour to drink. I usually can eat no more than 3T of cottage cheese or soup and it takes me about 30 minutes. I tried fish last night and got really sick.... I wonder why some people can eat more than others?? I eat between 2 and 4 ounces per meal, three times a day. It depends on what I am eating, because if I decide I only want cheese for breakfast, I'm not eating 4 ounces of cheese! My dietician says I should have about 1/2 cup of food at each meal. Calorie-wise, I am between 600 and 800 daily. Each meal, according to my guidelines, should take no more than 30 minutes.

Hello July Family, This is a good question. I am only 3wks post-op and don't eat enough. I don't measure how much I eat yet, so I don't know the ounces. I really hate eating! I hate chewing until the food taste like garbage. I was only eating twice a day and of course the surgeon got on to me. I try to eat 3 times a day and maybe 2 to 3 bites per meal. I also am supposed to be on all protein, but my mouth taste like metal all the time. I have added some watermelon recently to my diet and it went down great and stayed! On August 5th, Iw as down 26.5lbs. Anxious to weigh again! MICHELLE

as far as measuring goes, i found these little plastic cups with lids at Target: they are called "take-a-longs" or something like it. they are each 4oz, so i know roughly what i am eating. i can easily eat 4oz of cottage cheese. i can barely eat 4oz of chicken salad (yes the chicken has been poached and put through the blender, which i have found is the best way to make chicken salad!). one night i ate like 6oz of chicken salad and thought i was going to explode about an hour later! yuck, never try that! my meals usually consist of: breakfast: carb control shake; lunch: 4oz cottage cheese, 2-3oz peas, carrots or asparagus; dinner: 4oz chicken salad or 3-4oz fish, 2-3oz peas, carrots, asparagus or lentils. usually if it is lentils, i can eat more. i am NOT getting enough fluids...very bad me!!!

I am right at 4 weeks out too (and 30 pounds lighter) and I am lucky if I can get 2 ounces in at a sitting. I was not measuring my food and was getting sick everytime I ate. Finally figured out that my "sight" 2 ounces was not a reality 2 ounces - so I started measuring. Much better - though still have some bouts of nausea - kind of remains unpredictable. I can eat a whole container of yogurt....Think it depends on the food and the consistency!
