hi, all! I am 2 weeks out as of yesterday. I am down 20 pounds and getting my staples out on Thursday (YEAH!!) I am on soft foods and a minimum of 40 oz liquid daily, but taking in more than that since I am able to take bigger drinks than I could right away. I take 2 childrens chewable vitamins, b-12 (I chew them and they taste fine-and they are small), chewable vitamin C, and 2 Citrical pills daily. I eat 6-2oz meals, half of each meal consists of protien, the rest I split between a starch and fruit or veg. (I alternate the fruit and veg) Good luck and take care! Karen

I am three weeks out and not doing as well as I would like. I am happy with my 28 lb. loss, but I am having problems with being able to get my fluids in and food sitting well with me. I am only getting in about 26-30 oz. of liquids per day. I am drinking 2, 4oz. protein drinks a day which gives me 70g of protein, so that's good. I too have become lactose intolerant, so I am using Lactaid milk and Lactaid cottage cheese, and it's been a godsend. I tried some tilapia fish last night and got sooooo sick. It felt like it was sitting in the top of my chest, so I took a sip of water and wanted to throw up so bad! The pain and nausea was intense. I couldn't throw up, but I got up some foamy stuff (sorry..gross). Anyway, no fish for me for awhile. I'm going to concentrate on liquids today, because I'm afraid I'm getting dehydrated. I take two Flintstone chewables a day, 4 chewable Calcium Citrate, 1 1000 mcg. B-12 sublingual every 4 days, 1 Ferrous Sulfate every 3 days, 2 Actigall morning and evening. I also hate chewing all of those darn vitamins, but I will until I finish them up. I heard about some people who give themselves B-12 injections and it costs them about $1.50 per month. I may look into that. Hugs, Nancy

I am five weeks out, and down 15lbs. I have no problems tolerating ANY foods that I have tried so far. I log everything I eat on fitday.com and have found that I eat between 500 and 800 calories a day, and between 48 and 60 grams of protein each day. Liquids are not so good, though. As far as my vitamins go, I am taking Bariatric Advantage orange chewables and chocolate calcium wafers. The minute I finish up my bottles, I am switching to pills, which I am allowed to do now. Thank God!

I'm 18 days post op, taking a sublingal b-12 once a week, liquid vitamins I bought at gnc daily. Originally I bought and tried the childrens Flintstones Complete, but they left such a nasty metallic taste in my mouth for hours after one that I stopped using them. I havn't found a protein shake I can stand yet so I gave up and bought the SF Carnation Instant Breakfast yesterday that the dietitian suggested. Havn't tried it yet. I even bought some Carb Countdown milk to drink with it. At my appointment last week I had lost 39 pounds. I go in today to get my drainage tube removed and we'll see if I've lost in this last week. Right now, all I care about is getting this tube out.......then I'll be happy. I hate it and the 3 tension bars I still have left. I hadn't taken any pain meds for almost a wee****il last night. I caught the drainage tube last evening, so I took a teaspoon to help with the pain. ~Tanja

I am 4 weeks today. .my wt. loss is 33#s...My Dr still has me on 3 one oz. servings of pureed/soft a day which is fine with me as I still have trouble with them. I do 1 nectar;fuzzy navel with sunshine crystal lite and tsp of sf vanilla syrup protein drink a day 34.5 gms protein(using 1 1/2 scoops) and 1 advantEDGe protein drink which is 15 gms... I can tolerate different foods on different days..ie: soups, canned chicken made into a salad(sometimes), tuna which I love not at all, broth, sf jello and popsicles and refried beans and cottage cheese almost always, chili sometimes, stuffing and mashed baked potato sometimes, eggs again I love but not at all tolerated. I love ice tea but only in very small amts so I drink water and still do not get enough of that but I sip all day.Thats it in a nut shell.

Wow! Isn't it funny how differently we are able to eat. I stayed on puree for 2-3 weeks and just got to soft foods. I can't eat chicken (it gets stuck ) And I had a dumping syndrome from trying something I read on here (yogurt and popsicles in a blender to make a smoothie ) I will NEVER do that again!.... CONGRAT'S on all of your weight loss!!!! I can tell you that I have difficulty with the vitamins--so much so that I have not taken many (except the B12 shot)... I will try again next week. I am going to look into the chewable calcium pills... my problem is SUGAR I can't do too many grams... I hate the protein drinks! They taste so bad and I have wasted so much money trying to find one I like SOOOO I try to get my 40g of protein through food and bars. I think if I could get the vitamins in I might do a whole lot better. I shall see.... MY BIGGEST PROBLEM= eating too fast. I just can't slow down... I chew chew chew chew and then swollow then it gets stuck and I can only attribute that to eating too fast.

Seems to me alot of people complain about protein powders etc... are you using flavoured ones? I found unflavoured powder, 26.4 g of protein per scoop...and I mix it with either orange juice or grapefruit juice...it's great. You can mix it with anything you like, including using it in your cooking. This was the first powder I tried...I specifically asked for one that had no flavour. Good luck Linda
