10 days po What are you eating?
I'm two weeks post op and I'm allowed to eat eggs, tuna, chicken, cottage cheese, yogurt, oatmeal. All pretty bland and soft. I see my surgeon on the 10th and I'm hoping he'll permit me to begin adding new foods. I won't be allowed to eat beef for one year! I'm afraid our menu choices in the beginning are pretty boring.

I am 1 week post op today and live on water and my protein shake. I make one protein shake in the morning 12 oz milk and 2 scoops UNJURY powder. I divide that amongst 6 2oz tupperware midgets. I drink one cup every 2 hours and then drink water and stuff in between. Instead of just chicken broth I use the broth from the chicken noodle soup. I has a bettter taste. I eat popsciles and low carb/fat free fudge and cream sciles. I am also putting low fat sugar free ice cream in with my jello to give it some goodness. I an drinking fruit2o, propel, sugar free wylers kool-aid, and water. I needed some salt real bad the other night and sucked the salt off some peanuts. That helped some.

I'm a week and 1 day out and I'm eating Cream of Chicken, Mushroom soups, some chicken noodle w/out chicken, s/f popsicles, s/f jello, mashpotatoes, s/f pudding, crackers, malt-0-meal, cream of wheat and eggs. This is basiclly all I can have for 6 weeks. At week 3 I can add some tuna and refried beans. I guess a little chicken too. Hope this helps. As for the different diets, I think each Dr. thinks their diet plan will help there patients loose more weight than others. The longer your on pureed foods, the more weight you loose.
I am 1 week out and living off of s/f jello, s/f popcicles, and gatorade Gatorade gives me a little energy! I am SOOOO ready to be on something more solid! My 1st post op visit is 8/2/04 and I will be moved up to full liquids for 4/5 days and then pureed. I have been cooking for my family and I swear it "starves" me to death! I stuck my finger in the cheese sauce of my homemade macs and cheese, ( no noodle though---too scared to do that). I sure have been wanting some pudding or something.... ANYTHING...I knew it was gonna be hard afterwards but GEEOH! I would like to find out some good full liquid diets recipes or concauctions.
Well I had my surgery July 22 and Was released from the hospital on July 28 and I was off clear and full liquids and on to Pureed Foods, so my last meal in the hospital was Mash potatoes, gravy, beef and gravy with carrots and tonight my mom is making me potato soup. Breakfast i had oatmeal and lunch i had a scrambled egg...I HAVE NOT DUMPED YET..Keeping everything down including water...
I had to eat full liquid in the hospital following my third leak test (2 on the table and one the last day). The tray had cream of wheat, chicken broth, pudding, jello. I think the most important is to keep drinking and to get all the protein you can for healing. It was left up to me to start pureed anytime between week one and three. Then on to soft food.
I am out 8 days and am on a full liquid diet whi*****ludes sugar free liquids, s/f popsicles. s/f creamsicles. sf puddings, cream of wheat,ogurt- then, lots of protein supplements - liquid- with a lot of diversity- includes choc and vanilla shakes, cappacino, hot chocolate, cream of mushroom, chicken and tomato soups, and s/.f jello. Then I can also have 95% fat free creamed soups. I am trying to keep my food choices varied so I don't feel deprived or get bored. I'll be on this for the next week or so
then be transferred to a pureed diet. Feelings ofhunger come about
every 3 hours or so- and are easily dealt with by making one of those
choices. So far so good. I haven't gotten sick yet, and frankly the prospect of dumping or throwing up scares me enough to just follow
the rules and wait to eat anything else until the doctor tells me otherwise. But now all of a sudden my sense of smell is heightend and the food being cooked in my house ( Chili) smells wonderful. I just keep reminding myself that very soon I will be able to have all of the things
I want. I switch from sweet to salt to try to cover the cravings, and
then try not to think about it- because the hunger is really short lived
its more about mouth hunger than it is actual hunger. And to that I say
Oh well..I'll just have to get over it. I am concentrating on establishing a new relationship with food. Trying to take my time eating my food- 1/2 hr hour to 40 minutes at each meal...easier said than done! But hey, I'll have to learn to eat slower sooner or later. Had an interesting thing
happen tonight. I was very slowly eating my 1/2 c pudding today, when
i realized that although it was a very small portion- by eating it slowly
I could really concentrate on the taste, and I think that little bit of
pudding was the best pudding I have ever had! Here's to thinner days
for us all.

Ok - 2 weeks out and I don't know what I am eating...Was doing great until Wednesday night...
I left the hospital on cottage cheese and yogurt...Met w/ surgeon last Friday - and he said I could move to "Week 4" in the diet progression - which is pretty much soft & mushy anything - except for carbs (I would LOVE some mashed potatoes!)
I ate the toppings off a couple of slices of pizza on Wednesday and felt awful all night. I ate too much lunch yesterday (1 ounce of cream cheese and half an avocado) and then ate dinner...Felt even worse. This morning ate about 1/2 of an egg and my little pouch threw it back at me...
I am electing to return to soups for the rest of the day and possibly tomorrow...
I think we are all different...It is very interesting to me though the different procedures different surgeons have.
