Just curious to hear what others are eating now. I'm on full liquids, yogurt, mashed potatoes, oatmeal...I would love some regular food... soft foods start next weds.

You're so lucky. I had my surgery the same day as you and I'm still on clear liquids! I can have 12 oz per day of skim milk to mix my protein powder with (two six ounce drinks), but that's it. I am only allowed 4 oz. per hour. It's getting very difficult. I'm so hungry, and I'm curious what 335 calories per day is doing to help me heal. I feel like I'm getting weaker and weaker. I can start pureed food on Monday. Enjoy your yogurt and mashed potatoes...my mouth is watering for them!! nancy

Seriously When you have a craving for taste, you can't help but go for it...just have to keep in mind chew chew chew...and I don't give in to those cravings often, but now and then....well....you just have to. I'm eatng normal foods now...just in extreme moderation and chewing like no tomorrow...and still losing weight. I still don't understand why some doctors are so strict...according to my dr's schedule...I was on puree at day 2...solids at day 10. Linda

I am on pureed for 6 weeks and it is like picking your way through a mine field to see what reaction will occur. It takes me 2 or 3 times to figure out -000ps skim milk, yogurt, cottage cheese I finally figured out I am now lactose intolerant so I cut those out. If anyone has any ideas besides soup, jello, I'd love to hear it. I think I am going to try pureed veretables w/lactose free cheese

There are drops/pills you can get for lactose intolerance. Either you take the pill before you eat, or put the drops in the food. Considering milk products are a big part of this stage of diet, I would try i t out... Hmmmm....with regard to other foods, I don't know! Could you perhaps get some vanilla protein powder, mix up 2 cups of that and use it to make SF pudding (using the protein drink instead of the milk - a lot of those are mixed with water)? I have done that in the past, and it doesn't taste that bad. What about SF popsicles? They are my mainstay now! Hope that you find something good soon!!!

Man I really feel for you Nancy, I'd be going crazy too! My first week was puree stuff, cream soups, cottage cheese, yogurt, refried beans etc, but my second week I was able to add eggs, fish, moist chicken, and tuna. After my second week I can start adding things as I like but only have one restriction of no thick beef or stea****il 6 mos out. Its so strange how each surgeon is so different on eating restrictions. Mine seems to be pretty liberal it looks like compared to others here. I don't know if I could last that long on liquids Nancy, your a trooper!!! Hugs, Deejay
