A little problem
Yesterday I had a throbbing pain in my left side just above my drain tube. I took pain medication and went to bed. When I awoke I had red drainage from my incision site.:') I had my friend the home health nurse come see me (she is my friend--I am not having home health services). She cleaned my site and tried getting drainage from my drain tube and got a big long blood clot. The pain lessened, we put new steri-stips on the incision line and put an absorbant dressing over the part that had been draining. She left and I went back to sleep. When I awoke again, I lay in a puddle of sero-sanguinous drainage (for you lay people, that is blood-tinged drainage). I got nervous so called the surgeon (what a great guy!) He told me he had explained this would happen and not to worry. I told him I didn't expect so much. He asked a lot of questions, then told me not to worry. Place a thick wash cloth over the inciision and hold with my panties. I did that and had an uneventful night. Only serous drainage in my tube and minimal drainage from the incision. So all is good again.
Best part--I've lost 22 lbs since I got home, no blood pressure and diabetic medicine. So glad I did this.
