Is it true???

That the healthier you are the easier and safer your surgery? I ask because other than being 5'3 and weighing 281 pounds I have no major health complications other than my weight. So Im told it would be easier than those with major health complications. Jeanette

I'm not a doctor, but it stands to reason that the less co-morbidities you have, the less dangerous your surgery and quicker your recovery would be. I think that would hold true with any surgery.... Hugs, Nancy

Hi Jeanette, The people that have built up their lungs have an easier time. Use your incentive spirometer now if you have it. If not, you should receive it at your pre-op. The better your stamina is through excersise and lung power the more likely you are to breeze through. DO WHAT YOUR DOC SUGGESTS! Rich RNY 7/01/04
