Topic: I survived surgery July 21st!
I checked in to the hospital at 5:30am on MOnday, July21st and my surgery started at 8am. I was released on Wednesday, 23rd at noon. Recovery is not too difficult if you make yourself do the deep breathing and walk! Yes, it does hurt, but definitely less than childbirth. I feel mostly bruised and battered, not cut up or anything. I am going to rest and take advantage of the helpers I have at home right now. God bless!

Topic: It's been 16 months!
I want to wish all Good Luck and Success. My surgery date was 3-21-02 and by 11-02 I had lost 100 pounds and have kept it off for 8 months. I need to lose 20 more so I can get rid of my excess skin and hope to get on the ball after my 3 children return to school 8-4-03. I feel wonderful and my clothes have gone from size 24 to 14. I have a wonderful supportive family including a wonderful husband and I know they are no longer embarrased by me and that makes it all worthwhile. My counselors were and still are wonderful and supportive and if you ever have a bad day go see yours and it will pick you up! Good luck all and if you ever need advice just let me know. I wish you continued success! I had surgery 3-21-02 and by 11-02 had lost 100 lbs and have kept it off. I am still 20-25 lbs overweight but am very satisfied with my size 14 dress (down from 22 or 24) and 16 pants (down from size 24) I have 3 children and when they return to school 8-4-03 I have plans of trying to get 20 more lbs off so I may have surgery to get rid of this extremely excessive skin hanging down over my lower stomach! It actually flaps when I try to run and the noise can be embarassing. Just want to wish you luck and as you get the compliments just say thank you and realize how much healthier you are becoming! I still get them and what makes me proud is that I know my children are no longer embarrased by me. Good Luck. Diane Johnson from North Carolina

Hi Louise, I too am having WLS on July 28. We'll be fine. From what others have told me you have the hardest decision in your life. Hey I just saw Al Roker from the TODAY show eating some Hawaiian food and believe me, they were not pea size bites...so there is a light at the end of the LOSING tunnel. We will succeed. We will feel better. lighter, and to heck with the people who are negative or non supportive, we'll be thinner than them and healthier. My prayers are w/you. Your WLS friend--Angie
