Topic: RE: I survived surgery July 21st!
Glad to hear that all went well. What surgery did you have? I have surgery on Tuesday. Four more days to go.
Topic: On for July 30th
I enter hospital July 29 for a Greenfield and stay overnight for surgery the next day. My reservation says "Table for 1 at 1:30 PM, although that's hospital time. Am I nervous? I am for more nervous that outstanding projects at the office will not get done on time. I think I am glad to be spending the weekend working as opposed to sitting around, dreaming up creative ways to eat sugar-free Jell-O.

My surgery has gone very well. I am now a week out and I have lost 17 pounds since my surgery, and 29 pounds from when I started preparing for surgery. I am a little sorer than I thought it would be, but today it is quite a lot better. The food part was not that hard for me. I am having to work at drinking enough water. I will share one issue with you. I had my surgery on a Thursday went home Friday and Saturday morning work up starving. I was very upset, I thought I was not suppose to be hungry. I ate some jello still hungry, drank some water still hungry. I finally got frustrated and took two teaspoons of my pain medicine. Immediately I was no loner hungry. What was happening is that I could not distinguish from real pain and hunger pains. One I realized it was not hunger pain and took my medication I was OK. Since then I have been doing great. I walk two miles every day ( I feel the least pain when I am walking) and I am back at work part time. I very happy with my progress and feel dramatically better each day. Keep in touch.

Topic: RE: Need food ideas! Pureed!
Hi Cyndi,
I felt the same way... some things that I ate are, Bean and Bacon soup about 1/4 - 1/3 can mix in blender with water then heat that was my favorite. As the Doc told me find what taste and settles best for you dont worry about calories right now. Eat small 2 - 4 ounces each time your hungry. You may already know that. More food suggestions...cream of wheat, mashed potato, potted meat, or blend your own with vennia sasages, cream of patato soup, banana smoothie, choc. protine shake mix with pack of hot cocoa, sugar free fudge pops (soften) Hope this helps

Hi Julie, Yes it will be worth it in the end. That is what I keep telling myself. I am scheduled for the 28th also (RNY-open). So I know what you are feeling. Just remember this is the hardest part once we have the surgery we are on our way!!!! I want to be called a "loser" I can just smile and know how much better I am going to feel. Scared yes I am, I go from happy to think what the heck am I doing but all in all I am very happy with the decision I made.
