I had my surgery july 14, 2003 with Dr. Richard Carter in Arlington, TX. Any other lapbanders that had their surgery around that time?
Topic: One week post op
Well, thank you to all who sent me support through this website. You will never know how much I appreciated those messages in my last nerve filled days!
If I could have only known how well it would go! I am truly blessed. Surgery lasted 50 minutes, into my room an hour and a half later, and walking an hour and a half after that! I am horribly bruised, but they are not painful. The only pain I had was the first two days post op due to gas bubbles. Once those passed, I have felt wonderful. I had to stay in Houston a week (required by Naaman) and walked every two hours all week long...by the end of the week, was able to mall walk/shop for 3 - 3 1/2 hours a day! I ate only the allowed broth, water, juice (once a day), and Propel and have never felt hungry since surgery
I was disappointed at the scales today, though. Lost only one and a half pounds. I was taking fluid pills pre surgery and not now. I think that might be why. Maybe I should take them again? Any suggestions from anyone?
It is wonderful being on this side. Had broccoli cheese soup today (was cleared for the Creamed Soups and Cereals diet) and never knew it could taste so good!

Topic: Home from Surgery on July 25th!!
Hello. I went in for my laproscopic RNY surgery at 5:30 Friday morning and they started operating at 8:20....The surgery lasted 2 hours and 45 minutes. I woke up sick from the anesthesia and had a bad reaction to the pain medications (morphine and percucet) So, I have been pain med free since the day after my surgery....I also got sick from the swallow test they make u do to make sure there are no leaks (which there werent, thank god)....The nurse said it was a mix between that, the pain med and the anesthesia. BUT, now, I am doing great except for the pain from my drainage tube...I cant wait to get it out!! Has anyone else had alot of pain with it (the tube)? It makes it really difficult to walk right... Thanks to all for their prayers and thoughts before and during my surgery!!
Topic: Angela Cappiello is doing well!!!
Hi, this is Angela's sister, Rosemarie. Before she went for her bypass surgery yesterday, she asked me to post how she's doing. I haven't been able to speak to her, because she's now in ICU. But my parents were at the hospital, saw her, and said she was doing good. Granted she was on a bit of morphine, but I know she'll bounce back just fine.
If anyone wants to write her, she told me she'd probably be online by this weekend (depending, of course, on how she feels). I would be glad to field any comments and/or questions, and forward them to her, if you wish.

Funny you mention pretzels, which I have never liked. My husband and I took our grandkids to a local beach the weekend before last and as my granddaugther was getting into the van I held her pretzel for her. Without thinking to took a bite, chewed, and swallowed. I was shocked when I realized what I had done. I also thought it was pretty funny. Fortunately. i had not side affects. I hope you continue to feel and do great. Take care.
