Just curious, how did your insurance company find out you had this surgery? I agree though, it doesn't make sense that they find you uninsurable NOW!
Topic: Can anybody get life insurance being a bariatric patient. I can't ..
I have been canceled by my life insurance company for having this surgery and now i can't seem to get anymore. I have tried all the web sites and had multiple quotes, but as soon as they ask if i have had surgery in the last 5 years and if so for what...thats it, boom NOT INSURABLE...what the hell. i have lost 55 lbs and have lowered my cholesterol by 35 pts since surgery,, you'd think i'd be more insurable.
Has anybody else encountered this problem and has anybody gotten insurance since surgery, i'd love to know what company insured you.
Topic: RE: So aggrivated!!!
hon, you need to quit weighing yourself. You can go mad by doing that. I only weigh myself on Sat. mornings, that way any plateau or weight gain doesn't send me running for the doctors ofice. I had my surgery on 7/7/03 and i have only lost 53 lbs, but i also weighed 315 pre-op. If you can't stay off the scale for a week at a time,..... get rid of it!!!!!!! The best way to measure wieght is by your clothes anyhow, because if your working out your gaining muscle and it weighs more than fat. So chill baby, don't worry about the weight, it's going to come off.
Topic: RE: open rny 7/25/03
Hi Paula,
I had my open RNY on 07/24 and I'm doing great as well. I flucuated between 34-38 lbs, feels like I'm retaining water, so I'm really pushing the water issue.
I'm on solid foods and am doing fine on them, just have to remember to eat slowly and small bites. People are noticing, but it seems like it's going slowly to me...haven't really gotten into the exercise thing yet, don't feel like I've got the energy back yet for that (could be an excuse tho....LOL) I feel great tho, doesn't even feel like I've had surgery....bounced back really quickly.
Topic: Support Group
Hi everyone:
My name is Marianne and I live in Arlington Hts, IL. If there is anyone in the vicinity who would like to talk, email, get together, anything at all. Hey even if your not in the vicinity what the heck. I really have no support system and would like to make one. Oh by the way I had open RNY on 7/08/03, starting weight 236 now 194. whooo whooo. I know I should be grateful, but I keep wishing faster and more. Sometimes guilt sets in and I worry that my body will think any food is overeating. I am grateful, I feel good, did not have any problems really. Its a wonderful thing.
Thinking of how lucky I am, and thoughts and prayers for all those who will never know the happiness and joy I have. Remebering 9/11/01.
Have a great day, and prayers for all of us, whether thinking, starting or on the highway of good health.
Marianne
Topic: RE: How much have you lost?
Hi! I, too, am frustrated! I had my surgery on 7/9/03 and have only lost 42 pounds in 8 weeks. I keep seeing others who are or have dropped a lot more. I reach 9 weeks post op today and will weigh again tonight. But, I am still disappointed at the rate I am losing.

Topic: RE: First time traveling
Annie-if it was me traveling I would take the applesauce and soup as a back up, in case you don't find anything along the way that you can tolerate. My doctor gave me a card that says I have had this surgery and that ordering from children's menu is a must. The only thing to do is to try different things along the way. Lisa
Topic: RE: Great recipes for those who have a tough time with solids!
Hi Annie, my name is Lisa and I am 6 weeks post-op and need recipes low in carbs. Need more protein, without having to drink the shakes!! I have found a protein bar that isn't bad, but would like recipes that would help!! [email protected]
Thank you,

I had my surgery on July 30, 2003 and I have lost 35 pounds so far, but haven't went down in any pants size yet. My shirts and pants are getting loser. Just rememer that if this was a normal diet it would have taken a lot longer to lose than you have with this surgery. Lisa
Topic: RE: How much have you lost?
HEY Dominique.....I had surgery 7/17 and to date lost about 35lbs. I have been very discouraged, but upon reading more profiles on this site, I have found that "slow" losing is more common than rapid weight drops. BUT I also introduced carbs into my eating and that may have something to do with it. Best wishes and take one day at a time.(I need to follow my own advice..lol)
