Topic: RE: Surgery is today!!!
Hi Ramona, My name is Teresa. I also had the surgery on the 29th of July. I just wanted to compare notes and touch base with someone that is going through this in the same time period as I. If you would like to contact me, you can reach me at [email protected] I would enjoy hearing how you are doing. Thanks a bunch. Teresa P.s. My starting weight was 323. I am down to 265. yeah! I hit a plateau for 3 weeks and now starting to lose again. I am trying to remember my protein shakes. I keep on forgetting to drink them. I know that the more you drink the more you lose...I haven't started excericising as yet. I am wanting to start curves, but until I do I want to walk (should be walking 2mls per day per my surgeon's orders) need some initiative. Have any ideas?

Topic: RE: WOW! 123 lbs off already in two months
Thank you all for your kind words and encouragement. I want to do the same for y'all too. Matthew 6:33 says it all. I believe that God will grant our desires if they are truly needs and not necessarily wants. I pray for you today and will continue to do so in the future. I have put each of you on my prayer list. I weighed in today and now weigh 365. Obviously, I eat much less than I would like sometimes but, it is paying off. Eat your protein first! If there is room left, which there usually is not, I encourage you to eat veggies rather than carb infested foods. This works for me. I have not really exercised much yet. I walk alot more than I used to but, I still feel I have a little way to go before I get into a weight training mode. LOL Weigh yourself the same time of day if at all possible each time you weigh in. Also, do not deceive yourself by wearing lots of clothes the first time you weigh in and then wear less the next time. You will only be lying to yourself about your true weight. I suggest weighing yourself without clothing except at the Doctor's office or health club. LOL That might not be a good thing. Drink your water and eat your Flintstone chewables and Tums. These make a huge difference. If you retain water like I have been known to do, do not drink more than 48 oz. of water. Don't ask me why, I can only speak from experience. Good luck today. Rob

Topic: Yahoo! I'm a big loser too!
I've lost a small 104 lbs. since July 24. Now I need to get these old ladies picked up! I seriously need a breast reduction but was told to wait a year before having anymore surgery. Wish I didn't have too. Protein is a pain but I'm doing better. I walk four times a week and do my hard house work the other days. Have to get new clothes but I'm gonna wait a little longer so I can find nice looking clothes for school in the spring. I finally lost enough weight to go to school in the spring and fit in the seats! I was going to do pre med but have changed to Criminal Justice and Social Work. Can you belive it? School AND a double major! I never cease to amaze myself. lol Annie

Your life sounds like it is going so great for you! I know what you mean by gaining confidence, just this past week I am feeling more of it. I am not even half way to my goal, but I know I look better, I know I feel better and I KNOW I do many things I haven't done in a while. I even jogged with my son across a football field to get to his soccer practice. It was wonderful, I wasn't even winded. 3 months ago I would never have tried it and if I had, I would have been winded by the time I was 1/3 of the way across. What wonderful news about the book. I am so glad you wrote it, it should be read in classrooms all over the USA. Keep up the great job! Theresa C 235/195/140?130

Topic: Feeling so good!
Hi everyone! I had lap rny on 7/2/03 and I am down 57 pounds. I am so happy with the progress! I have had very few complications other than feeling tired, but that is going away too. Some may say I am a slow loser but I feel the slow loss is in my favor. My skin may take less of a beating and I may avoid the need for a tt or lift! I am no skinny but I have confidence and energy that I have not had for YEARS! My weight loss and this life changing decision has motivated me to look at my life differently. Because of my surgery I have written a children's book that will be published here in Madison, WI. It is from the perspective of a 5 year old watching his mom be obese and change to this new person. Bottom line, love. Bodies may change but love just grows. This surgery has allowed me to embrace all of the love that was surrounding me. I think I was so insulated by fat that I did not see or hear it! I hope all of you are fortunate enough to have friends, family and others who love you. I am celebrating that love with my little book. I am celebrating my new life with this little book. Thank you everyone for all of your stories and struggles. It has allowed us to learn from one another and make adjustments as necessary. If you are struggling....reach out many of us are hear and will help if we can. Feel free to e-mail me at [email protected] if anyone is interested in the book. Love you all! ---- Lori 317-260open rny 7/2/03.

Theresa, that is wonderful!!! I had my surgery the week before you and I, too, have yet to get in all my water. I usually get pretty darn close but I don't think I've ever made it. And the fact that you had almost zero carbs is super!!! I am not the fastest loser but I am keeping a steady pace which I am very happy about. I pretty much eat whatever I want (including too many carbs) .... just super small portions. But you have inspired me to drink all my water and eat all proteins. If I have a 3 pound loss in one day, I will literally jump up and down!!! Thanks and congrats to you!

Topic: Yeah for me!
I am very excited and patting myself on the back. What might not seem like a big thing to some of you is to me. LOL Yesterday I got ALL my water in!!! First time since surgery I managed to get 64 ounces in!! YEAH!!! I ate great the only thing I did that was "sorta" a no no was had watermelon. But that was the only carbs I had all day. I do not think that was bad at all. Yesterday I weighed myself at 198, today I am 195!!! Talk about inspiration. LOL I am not going to Curves today though I wish I could. I must have slept wrong because I woke with a terrible neck and shoulder ache. During the night my leg that has had not so good circulation since I was pregnaunt with the twins hurt pretty bad also. I must have laid different to help with the leg and ended up making other parts sore. Hopefully later today I will get on my stationary bike and then do some sit-ups. I hate to stop when I have momentum going. My Mom said I should to the house work for excersise. LOL I might just get around to it. hehe
