I say Yay also as I am glad to see some people that are in my weight loss range. I am 4 months out and have lost 60pds. Now there were a few times in the beginning that I was a bit dissapointed but not after I started looking at it as 60pds. is half of what I need to reach goal so if I can lose that in 5 months (which I did in 4) than I will have another 14 months to lose the other half. That is going by what I've heard some say about you lose for appr. 18 months. Knowing this it is still nice to hear other people in the same range.

Laurie, Great job! Doesn't sound like a case of "slow loser" to me. If that's the case put me on the list. I too have lost about 68 pounds since my surgery July 3. I am just thrilled...you should be too. Keep up the great work.

OK......what is wrong with us? We all want to be successful, where our weight loss is concerned, but we are a success. We are all different. We all have different things going on. We started out at different weights and we are going to lose at different rates. I have loss 75 lb. in seven weeks, but I was over 400 lb. pre-op. I was taking Lasix and I was full of water. Most of the first weight loss was water. We should not compare ourselves. We lose a percentage of our weight each week and some weeks we don't lose anything. All I have to say is, "BE GREATFUL." Have some acceptance, OK?

Topic: RE: The struggle over meat...
Hi Mary, I'm sorry you're struggling with meat. I'm constantly amazed at the few problems I have with protien. I can eat any kind of "hard" meat like steak, pork chops, roast, ham. What I have difficulty with is canned tuna, chicken or turkey, eggs and fish. Doesn't make sense, but it's what stays down and it seems to be working. I had surgery on 7/3 and as of 10/27 was down 94#'s. I can eat all vegetables and fruits as well. Have only tried bread 3 x's but it went OK also. I do throw up on occasion (it's been two weeks without now) but I think it's usually because I eat too fast (old habits) or don't chew well enough. I usually just wait 15-20 min and then am able to eat. I also tolerate dairy so made some custard with skim milk and splenda this weekend. Mmmm!

I am finally only obese! I am 15 lbs from my 2nd goal of being below 200 by Christmas. I have gone from 284 lbs to 215 lbs in nearly 4 months. I am so glad I had this surgery!

Yup, I hate to eat too. My PCP said that one of the reasons I could be slow at losing (though she does not think I am slow) is because I only get about 500 calories in a day so my body is really holding onto them. The ONLY time I lose is when I exercise. I keep plugging away. I did finally hit 180 lbs. 40 more to go till I hit my dieticians goal, 50 before I hit mine. At this point I will be more then happy with my dieticians goal. BTW, my surgery was on July 15th.

I think if there is one thing that bothers me about these messageboards, it's the fact that we tend to compare ourselves to everyone else and no matter how well we are doing, we find ourselves 'failing'. When was the last time you could say you lost fifty pounds in three months? Or 60, or 70, or 90? Think about how much that is, in such a short period of time. We are ALL different, each and every one of us. We tolerate different foods, have different execise and metabolism levels. Remember that it's not the number that is important, it is the fact that you are succeeding, whether it's the fastest rate or the slowest posted. You are WINNING the battle! Mary, 3 months, 1 week, down 55.5 pounds.

Yes I have that problem many days. Then every once in a while I am actually hungry! That happens if I am out all day and have not been able to drink my water. I also have food issues where nothing sounds good to me anymore and I am tired of eating the same old things, that I feel are high protein and low carb! I have been on a plateau all this week for some reason happened week before last too, I don't know why! I do loads of protein, water and exercise and still have lost 65, not as much as most others, but I am happy with it and about 65% to goal already, with 40-45 left to lose, so I am ok with it. I think you are doing great with 75 in three months! Keep up the great work, and hopefully our interest in food will improve a little, not too much though since we don't want to go back to habits of pre-surgery, right?! Laurie
