Topic: Post Op Vertigo
For the past two weeks I have been experiencing severe vertigo. It has made me unable to drive. I feel like I'm dizzy, looking through a fish-eye lens, can't speak correctly, can't write/type decently, and light-headed for the time it is going on. It happens every 2 minutes and lasts about 10-20 seconds at a time and makes me incredibly off balance. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this and can give some advice. I have gone in for blood work...all normal. They now have me on a steriod dose pack and allegra-d to see if that helps as putting me on a 5 day dose of antibiotics did nothing. Next step my PCP says is an ENT then a neurologist. I hate not feeling in control of my body! Help

I have eaten beef already. My doc has not mentioned me waiting a year. BUT I dont do well when I do eat it, makes me gag. for me chicken is always my first choice, but I have read of others who cant eat chicken! I guess everyone has to test different things out and see how it goes.
CONGRATS
on your success so far!! 90lbs is great!!

I know exactly how you feel. For the past couple of weeks I have beend snacking on sugar free cookies and chips. I was up 2 pounds yesterday at the gym. I am so scared that I will never make it to goal, or worse yet gain back everything I have lost.

Has any of you been eating beef, steak, etc. way before the year mark. My doctor instructions said to not have beef until a year out.. but I have been eating it just fine for a couple months now. Has anyone else done the same? There really isn't anything I haven't been able to eat. I, of course, try to stay away from sugars, etc. But, even the few times I've had sugar it hasn't bothered me. Last time I weighed myself I had lost 90 lbs. since surgery (7/23/03). Thanks for any replies!

First of all WELCOME! and CONGRATS on your success.
This message board isn't very lively lately. Thank u for replying to my post, although Im sorry that we are experiencing the same difficulties, it is comforting to know I am not alone. I have my 6 month check up tomorrow and I'm soooo nervous
I want everything to be normal, and hopefully my progress is good. I am going to ask the doc about my frame of mind and how common it is to be so obsessive.
I wish u the best and hope to see ya post again soon!!

Hello,
I just joined this message board, but was moved by your post. I went in search of people to talk to because I am having the same feelings as you. I am scared that I will gain it all back. I am fighting a lot of cravings. I haven't been doing the right things for about two weeks now. Not sure what this is all about, but it seems to have gotten really hard all of a sudden. You are not the only one!! Don't feel alone!!

Hello,
I had my surgery on July 29,2003 at Emory Crawford Long Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. I have lost 95 lbs. I was 285lbs when I started this journey. I am looking for people to talk to about the surgery. I would love to find a support group here locally. I am also trying to find a doctor to do my follow-up. Traveling back to Georgia might be a little hard at this time.
Peace and Blessings to all....

Topic: 6 MONTH BLUES
Hey all! anyone experencing any depression or negative feelings about their journey. I know I have had success, but am terrified that I will "do bad". I have been dealing with old habits/addictions resurfacing. I have been wanting to snack and craving carbs(like frys and chips) Maybe its PMS.
I think it might be my past history of failing with weight loss attempts. I have also feared that my weight loss will just STOP after these 6 months! I'm the first to admit these thoughts are wacko, but all too real. Am I the only one?? Isn't 6 months too soon to feel this way?? Any advice or encouragement will be sooo appreiciated.

Deana,
My surgery was 7/17. My weight loss had really slowed down in November and then right before Christmas it picked back up. I am at another slow period, but I am not fretting over it (like I would have been prior to the surgery!) I know I will lose it again. I talked to some other post ops and they said to expect anywhere from a 5-8 pound loss each month after 5 months. Now, I know that everyone is not the same, but that gave me some hope. I am currently 7 lbs away from the century club (I have lost 93). I am feeling so much better about my self and know that is what is important. Plus, I look at it this way - before I had 140 pounds to lose and in my head that was not even imaginable. If I happened to stop loosing at this point (which I know I won't) I only have 47 more pounds to lose and I know I can do that on my own! Hang in there - you are doing a great job! You will get there!
