Topic: RE: I think I am losing too much
Angie, thank you for the advice. My blood sugar was a little low the last time I had it checked about two weeks ago. And, I suspect that my blood pressure drops as well from the times I check it. I am not on any medications currently for blood pressure or blood sugar. My surgeon hasn't seen me in a few months. I see him on the 13th. Thanks again))Paige

Hi Kathy,
My surgeon advised not to have any cosmetic surgery at least for 18 months after your WLS. And yes I am considering it too. Good luck to you.

Hi Paige,
Congratulations on your great weight loss. I have only lost 89 lbs so far and had my WLS on July 28th. My husband also had WLS on Oct. 29th. He has experienced a few dizzy spells. He is a diabetic, although no longer insulin dependent, he still takes oral medication. Have you checked your blood sugar? Also, are you on any blood pressure or water pills? If you don't like what one Doctor has told you regarding these dizzy spells, go for a second opinion. What has your surgeon said about you "maintaining your weight"?? Good luck to you---Angie
Topic: I think I am losing too much
Hi! I was really excited today to work over to this portion of the message board. (same surgery month) I feel this could be really helpful to many. Okay, here is my question. My open rny was on 7/23/03. I am 5'7 and started out at 230. I had to have the surgery not only because of obesity but because of many severe co-morbs. I am now down to 137 and a size 6. My husband is now really getting worried and says that I look too skinny. I am still losing (slowly). I see my surgeon for a check up on the 13th. But, I was really wanting to see if anyone has heard of this or experienced it. I do get very dizzy upon standing, to the point of almost blacking out. I have cut my "walking" almost completely off so I will stop burning more calories. I would love to hear from any of you.
Topic: Anyone else already looking at plastic surgery?
I'm wondering if anyone else at this point is already considering plastic surgery? I have only lost 1 pound in the last 3 weeks so...of course...I'm wondering if I'm done losing. I am 5'5" & down to 142. My belly still has more on it than I would like but I'm wondering if it isn't just skin. How long after weight loss do our bodies stop adjusting?? Just wonder if I'm thinking ahead too far

Topic: RE: weight loss has slowed way down
I'm the same. I am 7 months on feb 1, and I've only lost about 75, and have about 25-30 more to go, and it is NOT coming off my body, and I'm scared.
Topic: RE: two step procedure
I have heard of doing the surgery that way, one of my Dr's patients is having it done, he said it was due to the amount of weight he had on him and that it would be safer. Hang on in there. ......Cassandra
Topic: 6 1/2 months and down 130 pounds!
02/02/04
It's hard to believe another whole month has gone by and now it's been 6 1/2 months since my surgery. I must say that I'm beginning to understand that things don't necessarily get easier as time goes on. I'm feeling so much better, but my iron is down so I have to make an extra effort on keeping that up. Iron is that one thing I seem to miss because it causes such havoc in my system. But I'm going to try different types hopefully this will help with the side effects.
I'm down another 14 pounds since last month. I seem to be right at 15 pounds a month now. That just fine with me. However, last month I had a good two weeks were the scale never moved. But it didn't bother me. Why? I think it's because I don't feel I'm depriving myself of anything. I'm not starving all the time which use to lead to a feeling of depression. Most importantly, I believe it's because I've made my mind up that this is the last time I'm doing anything to loose weight. And finally, I have a great cheerleader on my side, God! He's there all the time cheering me on.
It's so fun now to be able to help those who are just deciding about WLS. I remember all the worries and concerns and now know what a life releasing miracle the surgery can be. I tell everyone I can about it.
I was at Lane Bryant this weekend, someone had given me a gift certificate for Christmas. I was trying on some tops. I actually had to go and get a 14/16 AND IT FIT. Can you believe that? Sometimes when I'm trying on clothes in the stores I stand in the changing room and just cry as I put on sizes I haven't been able to wear in years! Now I'm buying size 18 pants coming from a size 32 pant 18 seemed so far away.
Some of you might have seen a new name on the boards, Tim McMahon. If you're wondering this is my husband. He is scheduled for surgery on April 30 with Dr. Svendsen at Methodist. I'm so excited for him. Watching him struggle everyday with breathing is difficult and frustrating. So there will be two losers in our home! Again, all thanks to Jesus who has helped each of us through this journey.
This site is so great and supportive. I enjoy reading and responding to everyone. Thanks ObesityHelp for being there and supporting all of us.
