Topic: RE: I've only lost 80 pounds :-(
Can you explain to me why you had this surgery done in the first place. I had to have it done due to my Ostio-Arthritis. I was in so much pain I couldnt do much at all. my high weight was 282 and i am down just 26 lbs. and I can already feel the pain starting to get more less...tomorrow is my one month post op . and I can only Pray in 5 months to be where you are now. 80 to 86 lbs is wonderful. just think where you would be today if there was no such thing as WLS. If you are that upset about the loss. change something and im sure you will start to lose again.

Topic: What should I be eating at 6-7 months
Can anyone please let me know what they are eating? I eat mostly foods that contain a lot of protein including chili, beans, protein bars and cheese. I haven't tried veggies yet. Am I eating the correct foods? I haven't tried sugars or breads yet. Has anyone been able to eat salads yet? Lettuce?
Thanks
Topic: RE: 6 1/2 months and down 130 pounds!
Wow, congrats on your weightloss. I have done well also. I had my RNY on 7-25-03 and have lost 110. The loss has slowed way down for me. I think I need to make some changes to get the weight loss going again. More exercise.....I am still eating right. I had 3 little kisses for V-day. Alot better than half a bag. lol. I went shopping with a friend yesterday. I wanted to find a little black skirt. I went to LB and everything was too big. I was a little upset. I love their clothes....But, thank God that I don't need them anymore. Time to find another favorite store. I got a new dress for V-day. It is a formal dress for my 15 yr HS reunion. It's a size 12. I hope it fits by Aug. We'll see.....Thoughts and prayers for your DH.

Topic: RE: I think I am losing too much
Congrats on the weight loss. You have done fantastic. I am 5'2" and weigh 170 now. I had open RNY 7-25-03 and have lost 110. My dad actually told me that I didn't need to lose anymore. lol. My goal is 140 and that will be half the weight that I used to be. I would definitely get the dizzy spells checked out. I haven't exercised like I should be but I am still losing. I walk alot at work and go up and down stairs. Anyway, take care and good luck with the check up.

Topic: RE: Breast ! When do they go?
well i don't have that problem at all. i started out at a 50D, and now i'm now quite sure what size i am, lol, i just know that i am not what i use to be, and i refuse to purchase new bras at this point, because i don't want to spend money on bras right now, but i know it's a must, it's startng to be noticeble to others, oh, heck, lol, i've been in denial, i need to get off this computer now and go buy at least one bra from walmart, to hold me until i'm ready purchase the nicer bras we ladies enjoy wearing. i'm sure some are saying, " what am i talking about",your bra size was/is way bigger than mine, well we all go through different things, your major struggle may be your breast size but mine is my thighs, when do they start to deflate? lol May all *****ad this continue to be blessed and trust in God alone to satisfy all of your needs according to His riches and glory.
Topic: RE: New to this page
i am very new to this page as well, didn't know that this part of the site existed either. i have truly been blessed by what i've read here, and i plan to visit this page on a regular basis so that i can stay abreast on issues that may and will come up as i continue this journey on the other side, as a "LOSER". WOW, i can't believe i actually typed (called, said) that word "loser", but that is exactly what i am, and i give God the glory.
may everyone continue to be blessed, and may the families who are suffering (from complications or deaths) from this surgery, find solace/comfort in HIS WORD.
Topic: RE: 6 MONTH BLUES
this may sound weird to some, but i must say it......I have truly been blessed by reading the replies to this original post because it all sounded familiar to me because I'm having all of these same feelings, emotions, thougts, responses, etc. i haven't been on my computer in a few months because i had been so busy with working extra hours at work, etc, so i had been having all of these emotions and thougts inside and just holding on to them. (oh i hadn't been to my support group meetings for about the last few months either, for the same reasons i missed this website). i now can get up from this computer today and feel like a whole new person, after realizing that what i am going through is common and experienced by all (for the most part). God is so good, and may He continue to bless you all in all that you think and do. (you see i said "thinK" also, not just "do"), because "THE BATTLE IS IN THE MIND". once we get our minds lined up with God's word then all else falls in place. sorry for typing so much, and tiring some readers in the process, but i had to type (say) everything that i typed (said), now i've done myself a good deed. i feel like i'm exiting a support group meeting at this very moment and feeling like i'm on cloud 9.
Topic: RE: I've only lost 80 pounds :-(
Don't get hung up on the numbers, Kathy. You'll make yourself crazy. We are all different and lose at different rates. 80 pounds is GREAT. I'm a slow loser too but I've found that because I'm losing slowly, my body's elasticity is better, I'm not having too much trouble with loose and saggy skin, and I feel great. Maybe it's time for a change in your exercise routine to speed up that metabolism! (or to add exercise if you aren't doing any yet). I'm back to eating pretty much anything, with a few exceptions. By 'anything' I mean regular, healthy food. Avoid the junk food and sugars. Try more meat. Remember eat slow! I found that I was relying a bit too much on soft food because it didn't upset my system. Once I returned to a normal diet (more meat, veggies, solids) I noticed that I was eating 'less' again and the weight started dropping off once more.
Hang in there, you are doing GREAT.
Topic: RE: Protein
I'm probably still a little on the 'lacking' side but when I feel a little hungry, I'll snack on cheese or yogurt, in an effort to get that protein in. I also drink a lot of milk during the day, and add it to my tea if I have some. I guess I'd have to say that I turn to dairy products for the protein more than anything else. And if I'm feeling really froggy, I'll use a little bit of sliced, low fat, turkey breast, wrapped around slivers of cheese, for my snack. Yum.
