Sandra,
I was in the same boat. My weight loss had came to a complete holt. I was on a platue for 5 weeks then boom i lost 7lbs like that. Hang in the scale will move again. I increased my exercise and my water intake, i think it helped to break the platue. Good luck.
Topic: Will I EVER be "normal"
I want to first congratulate those who have reached their goal or are super close. Reading these posts...and the profiles that go with them...I feel like I am a million miles away from goal. I know that I will get there one day. And I work very hard at it.
I had my surgery July 9th. At 5'10" I went in weighing 387.4 lbs. At 7 1/2 months...I am down 126.4 lbs. I still have a good 100 pounds to go...but...I'm very excited that I have done this well.
I guess I just suck because I was so much heavier than the rest of you normal people.

Sandra,
I thought mine had stopped to, but it just considerably halted. I only lost 1-2 pounds last month. I talked to Dr. Coirin about this and he said it is normal. We will hit a plateau and then lose and then hit another plateau and then lose. Don't be discouraged! I know that is hard! We lose so fast after surgery and then our bodies just make a complete stop and we are not ready for it yet!
I have heard a few things to shock your system - you can either up your protein intake (even if it is by shakes) or you can go back to the 1st weeks diet (the liquid diet) and most people usually break the plateau. I can even think about going back to that liquid diet, but I did up my caloric intake and I lost 2.5 more pounds.
Good luck! And keep up the good work.

Topic: RE: Return of Appetite
Hi Sandra,
I stopped losing around Christmas and just last week started losing again. I lost 5 lbs. I had my surgery on 7/29/03. I have lost 107lbs. I am thinking that I am just at a plateau and will lose the last 10 to 15 lbs I want to lose eventually once I get past this. I have been doing a lot better with my exercise and have noticed that even though I am not losing pounds I am losing inches. Infact in the last six weeks I have lost a total of 8 inches all over. That is a good thing. I am also keeping track of my food intake just to see if I need to make any adjustments or where I might be eating wrong. I am sure this is just one of the frustrating plateaus and you weight loss will pick up again.

Congratulations, Jodi. That is wonderful!! I completely understand your excitement....I am only 9 lbs away from being 'normal' myself!! LOL
And by the way, this is exactly what this site is for!!! Though it seems like bragging, you are sharing with those that can completely relate and it lends encouragement to those following in your footsteps.
Best wishes,

Thanks,
