Topic: I'm NORMAL!!! :)
Hi everybody,
I just had to toot my own horn for a second. I am finally normal....well rather my BMI is!! It took 10 mos and 2 days to get below 25 and I am just thrilled about that!! Unfortunately it took over a month to lose 1 stinking pound. I hate how slow it is going but I guess I should just be thankful that it IS still going!

Topic: RE: How much is too much?
My surgery was on July 16th, 2003. I ask myself all the time if I am eating too much .. i feel exactly like you do! However, i really stay away from carbs as much as i can. i haven't had a sandwch since I waspre-op .. I do eat a lot more protein though. I can eat 8 oxs of turkey brest with no problem .. and then I wonder if I over-did it. I can definately eat more than I did early post-op, but I worry ... a lot ... I know that I eat healthily and that I am loosing consistently ... 147 lbs in 10 months ... but i worry .. A LOT too .. it sounds like we are normal!

Hi Tracy,
I think we all hit plateaus at some point! I will be 10 months on May 15th and the loss per month is less, but agree with other postings, body weight loss and inches down have to "catch-up" to each other. I am 5 feet tall, weight day of surgery 244, loss 108 so far, weighed 136 5/08/2004. My goal is 120, height/weight charts list 109-120. So who knows where it lands, I am just so GLAD & HAPPY to weigh under 200 pounds!

Hi Tracy,
I will be 10 months post op on the 10th. I started out at 168 at 5'4''. I am at 166-168 now. I do get frustrated sometimes, but I am still down 103 pounds. I have hit a plateau. I work very hard to keep it going down, and I hope it does go down some more. At month 9 I instintaly lost 8 pounds. Maybe my weight is just playing games on me. I wouldn't worry about it. I am still happy that I am 103 pounds less and you should be happy too.
Congratulations and best of luck....
Tina
Topic: RE: Plastic Surgery Yet????
I'd talk to your surgeon and other health care providers first. I was always told that plastic surgery isn't really a wise option until at least 18 months out, due to the fact that you aren't done losing, nor is your body done adjusting to the changes. Having the surgery too early is something I think you'd really want to avoid.

Hi Tracy and Brandi!
I too had my 10 month anniversary today. I only lost 1 pound this month. But I did lose 4 inches so that's a plus! I can't get too down on myself, (and neither should you!) I was at 248 and 5'2". I'm down 105 pounds. Just remember how far you've come! I'm glad you guys are here to compare myself to!
Take care!

I had my surgery on July 3, 2003, I started in April of 2003 at my consult at 377 lbs.. at the day of surgery I was 356, right now I am 230. I want to slap myself in the head when I sit here and wish I was losing more because I enver in a million years would be here without the surgery but I can't help to feel bad when I try to "compare" myself to others. So, my advice is to look at all those before pictures It helps me.
Topic: RE: I sure miss my hair!!
I am experiencing hair loss too, and when I talked to my hair dresser about the Nioxin products she told me that they were great, but once you started using them you pretty much had to stay using them. She told me that once you stopped using the Nioxin, any hair that it had helped produce growth for, would LIKELY fall out. Anyone know if that is true?
I NEED to do something.. or at the very least find a new style for my fine .. and thinning hair.
It isn't falling out as bad now, but other than Biotin, I'm not sure what else to take to help it grow back.
Any ideas??

Tracy,
Welcome! I am almost 10 months post op now. My anniversary is July 10th, 2003. I started out at 258 (at 5'2", that's pretty round!) and am now at an even 150. I too have been stagnant for about 2 weeks now and even though it's frustrating, it's your bodies way of telling you "Whoa! Slow down a minute!" so it can catch up with all the changes that have been wrought. Just keep doing the right things and you'll start back up again. Maybe vary your exercise routine some, hit the steam room after you work out or something. I still have 25 lbs to lose and it seems like such a long way to go, but look at where we came from and how far we've come already.
Good luck and keep up the good work!
