Thanks, all, for the support. It means a lot to me. I still have about 80 lbs to go, but it feels so good to lose "a whole person", so to speak.

Topic: RE: What are you eating?
Hi Elizabeth,
Congratulations on your weight loss. I have lost 106 lbs since my surgery on July 28, 2003. I am eating 4 oz of solid protein for lunch and dinner everyday. I have either chicken tenders--or loin of pork. For breakfast I ususally eat 2 eggs and a few pieces of bagel crisps. I exercise at Ladies Workout Express 4 times a week. I also got a job there, so it helps keep me focused. I limit my carbs to the morning only and have my protein stir fried or broiled with spices and some cut up soft veggies. It helps that my husband also had the surgery so we eat the same pretty much all the time. I drink 64 oz of water a day. It's tough to do but I try, and when I don't I have at least 48 oz. I walk whenever I can. I park far away from the mall entrance and walk with my husband every week-end. Good luck to you!!!

Hi Jean,
Sure sounds like you have done wonderful, in spite of all the complications! Cut yourself some slack! You are still successful! I found my weight loss (pounds) and inches off had to catch-up to one another. The months pounds were slow the inches lost increased. Heavy on the protein! Your weight loss will start again, plateaus are common. Good luck!

Way to go Cathy! Congrats on this wonderful achievement! I wish you much continued success.
Topic: I'm a loser again!!!
Just an update.... a few weeks ago I sought out the wls web page and asked for your support. I started drinking more water as I was told... and I hooked up with a guy at work who is working out with me. He's extremely handsome, muscular and in tip top shape, (which helps with my motivation to show up at the gym.. LOL) Anyway, I've been motivated by all your kind words .. and having him there for me has helped me so much now I've lost 4 pounds in a week and I feel like it's going to keep going down.
I also scheduled an appointment with a plastic surgeon for June 20th just to ask what he thinks I can do to avoid the most surgical work, ie: skin creams, etc.. I'll post if he has anything helpful to say. It's too early yet for me to worry about scheduling anything, but I figured just incase I could be doing something along the way to help avoid more surgery I'd make an appointment!
Thanks again to everyone who's emailed me with your encouragement!!!!
especially Kacee nice to have a friend close in location to talk to!

Topic: RE: New here and sad
Hey- please try not to feel so sad- that goes for all of us, me included. I know how disappointing it can be when your own losses don't match others', especially when we've read about all these fabulous success stories of people making goal in under a year. I know I often feel like a failure, like I can't even make THIS work. But losing slower has meant better skin response and I haven't had to fork out a ton of money for new clothes. I try to squelch those jealous feelings and just work on myself because that's all you can really do. I was 370 at my consult, 356 on the day on my surgery (7/22/03) and now I'm 240. I still have 65-90 pounds left to go and it often seems daunting. I am just SO tired of constantly battling the weight. But I know if I give up, I will end up right back where I started. So, stay strong and focus on small, managable changes, like an extra glass of water, or an extra 5 minutes of exercise. Good luck!!!!

Way to go Cathy! I'm so happy for you, much success. Keep up the good work. Just think last year at this time we were going through all the test and waiting for that phone call. You just put a smile on my face by reminding me everything I went through, now looking back on it seems like it was a piece of cake.
Topic: What are you eating?
Hello Everyone,
I'm two months away from my one year anniversary, but I'm losing really slow right now. I am curious about what everyone is eating. How many ounces can you get down now that you are almost a year out? I still measure and try to get down all my water, but why is it going slow when I'm doing the same thing I was doing from the beginning. I watch my carbs and sugar and I also only eat 3 oz. at a sitting, and I don't eat and drink at the same time. I'm not complaining just curious to know what everyone else is doing.
I am very grateful for how much I have lost but I haven't reached my goal yet. I will I'm determine.
Hope to hear from you all. Take care and GOD Bless!

Topic: RE: Fellow July 2003 post-op
Hi Everyone,
You are all so encouraging, I had my surgery July 30, 2003. I started out at 276lbs. I am 9 1/2 months out and have lost 109lbs. I'm not losing as much as I was its coming off much slower, I would get upset just like you all but my husband (who is so good to me), brought to my attention how thankful I should be for being able to lose as much as I have. I didn't have any complications, no dumping, no pain...no problems at all, I do get diarrhea if I eat something that doesn't agree that day, but other than that no problems. The inches are coming off and I think overall thats what really important, the weight will eventually catch up.
I work out 6 days a week and I hated it, I don't like exercising, but you know when I look in the mirror I walk just a little harder : )
Don't give up guys we will all eventually reach our goal, even if it takes the entire 18 months I still have a way to go, instead of a long ways to go.
Take care and hang in there. GOD Bless!
