J I share the same date with you. My surg is in Mpls at 10 am that day, I'm having an open RNY. I'm a 54 yr old married mom of two wonderful grown children. Shari, I share the July 8th date with you too. I'm a 54 yr old happily married mom of two grown children. I want to lose 100+ pds to be able to enjoy retirement some day soon. I agree with you -- her attitude was a little brusque...however, i was much too happy to care that she was upset I didn't follow her "rule." One of my problems is i tend to take things way too personally (a.k.a. paranoia), and so i'm trying to let things slide off my back instead of taking offense so easily.

Good luck with your surgery. I have the same surgery date. My surgery is scheduled for 3 pm. I'm having a revision from a VGB to an open RYN so I think I must be his last surgery of the day incase it takes longer. My thoughs and prayers are with you.

I'm having a revision on 7/8/03. I had a VGB 8 yrs ago and now the ring is not working the way it should. I am having an open RYN. I can't wait for this to be behind me and be on the losing side of things. 8 years ago I started at 320 lbs I had the VBG had two children and lost 150 lbs and was maintaining at 170 lbs. I've gained 30 lbs in the last 7 months due to eating high fat soft foods because I can't eat many solid foods due to the ring malfunctioning. I now weigh 200 lbs. I am hoping to lose 65 lbs with the revision. Good luck to all of you and your upcoming surgeries.

Topic: Woo-Hoo - Revision Date - July 24th
I'm scheduled for a revision with Dr. Vanguri on July 24th. My original RNY surgery was done in August 1998 by a different doctor and after 5-6 months I gained back all of my weight. I can't wait to get this done again to start re-living my life. Drop me a line if you like - [email protected]

Topic: Insurance Approval
Thought I would drop everyone a line to shout from the rooftops - I got my approval letter in mail!!!!! That was the last item on my list (except for lose weight), so I am now ready and waiting for July 24th. I am marking off the days on my calendar. To all who wrote about out of control eating - I have been there. I think it was nerves thinking of what if I did not get approval, what if one of my tests come back negative, what if something gets in my way of having this surgery - Those what ifs are gone and I am now thinking only positive thoughts. I am still battling with the food issues, but just trying to deal day by day. I hope to lose some weight before surgery, but also to begin to exercise in order to be in better shape. Good luck to all!
