I FOUND OUT ON 11/1 THAT MY DAUGHTER WAS PREGNANT WITH MY FIRST GRANDCHILD AND I WAS OVER JOYED SHE HAS BEEN TRYING FOR OVER A YEARL BUT THEN I FELL INTO THIS DEEP DEPRESSION BECAUSE I WONT BE ABLE TO DO ALL THE THINGS I WANT TO DO WITH THE BABY. MY KNEES ARE SO BAD I NEED A WALKER BUT THEY WON'T OPERATE UNLESS I'M UNDER 210. WELL TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF AND BE WELL. THANKS LEAH

I HAD THE SURGERY 7/9/03 AND IT TOOK OVER 5 HOURS. I WAS IN THE HOSP FOR OVER 2 WEEKS AND A NURSING HOME FOR 3 WKS. I HAVE A BROKEN BACK AND I HAD A BAIN HEMORAGE IN 96. THAT IS WHEN I PUT ON OVER 100LBS AN MY THYROID, HYPER THYMUS AND PETUITARY DON'T WORK. I WAS OVER 300 LBS AND GOT DOWN TO 277 BY DIET AND THYROID MEDICINE BUT IF MY THYROID ACTED UP I WOULD PUTON 15 LBS IN A WEEK AND THEN IT WOULD TAKE MONTH TO LOSE IT. SO I CONCENTED TO THE SURGERY. NOW I CANT EAT MUCH JUST HOT CERIAL ,MASHED POTATOES AND THE LIKE, IT TAKES ME AND HOUR OR MORE TO EAT A CUP OF SALAD AND I HAVE TO CHEW3 IT UNTIL IT IS PUREED IN MY MOUTH. I LOST 5 LOS A WK FOR 6 WKS BUT THEN I STATED TO PUT IT BACK ON. ONE MY ONE YEAR ANIVERSERY I WAS 277 THE EXACT WEIGHT I STATED. I'M NOW 266 I DID THE SOUTH BEACH DIET. THE PROTIEN ADDED SOME OIL TO MY DIET AND I FOUND IT HELP WITH MY MUSCKLE PAIN. WHEN I STATED TO ADD CARBS I WENT BACK UP TO 277. I'M DOWN NOW BECAUSE I'M NOT EATING MUCH I GUESS I'M DEPRESSED. I WENT TO A SPECIALIST IN GLANDS AND SHE TOLD ME THERE WAS NOTHING I COULD DO BECAUSE WITHOUT THE PETUITATY I WOULD NOT LOSE WEIGHT. IS THERE ANYONE OUT THERE WHO CAN OFFER ME SOME HELP.. I AM AT MY WITS END. I CAN'T EAT AND I'M STILL NOT LOSING WEIGHT. PLEASE HELP ME I'M DESPERATE. THANKS.

Hi Kathy and Juan, It's nice to see another husband and wife who went through the WLS. My hubby had his WLS last October. He also has lost pretty slow compared to others who had the surgery the same time. I think when you have plastic surgery and they remove ANY skin that it does weigh something, so at least that would be putting you closer to your goal. I too have the bat wings, but try to keep from clapping too crazy at concerts and waving to others is the only thing that seems to drive me nuts about them. After what they call the honey moon stage which is the first 6 months weight does slow down.. But remember after the 6 months we are eatting more, then we did the first 4 months.. I am 15 months postie.. and I know that sence my one year in July I have still only lost 11 pounds and that was 3 months ago !! But slow or fast, I am very thankful that the scales are still heading South wards and not north wards.. I do know some don't get to goal untill their second year.. I think taller people do loose weight faster.. Which is not to my advantage !! I am only 5'1''.. So no matter how slow the scales move I am just thankful that it does move.. hugs

I had my surgery July 18th 2003. And I think I'm STOPPED! I was 320 and now I weigh 173, but I've been 175-173 for 4 months! I admit I have blown it some of the time, but nothing too bad. I want to get down to 140. Does anyone get to the goal weight they want? I also want Plastics. My arms are BAT wings. Angie you are NOT alone. Keep up the good work
