I have started a little email group with people who have dates on July 1st and 2nd (although you are certainly able to join if you are later on in the month!) . All you have to do is send me an email and I will send everyone an email with all the addresses to it, we can post how we are doing, and then reply to all, ...then you can drop out whenever you get tired or bored with it. Send me your email before you go to the hospital if you can, then I will have it all ready for ya'll to start going when you get home...I think we can really learn a lot from each other...people have so many preconcieved notions about this surgery, but even the Doctors won't really know exactly how it feels to do this. look forward to hearing from you at [email protected] Lori

Hi, Jennifer. My date is July 8 also. I can't deny being nervous, but the closer it gets, it seems the more calm I feel inside - just the opposite of what I expected. I am having lap RNY in Houston. Hope all goes well for you.

The dr. said he had to schedule a surgery date prior to sending in for the approval. I've done all of the hoop-jumping for the pre-ops required and my BMI is 51, so I'm hoping and praying they will approve me. I'm not getting my hopes up wildy, so whatever comes will be ok. If I have to do an appeal and put it off a month, so be it. - Michelle in NC

Don't get the gitters. My date is July 3rd. I start my pre-op tests tomorrow afternoon - on my daughter's 15th birthday. I've met a lot of positive people, as well as a lot of anxious ones still waiting for a surgery date. I'm so fortunate. I haven't had to wait long at all. I'm having my gall bladder taken out as well. I have diabetes, HBP, and high cholesterol, so I'm hoping all things get better quickly. Email back and I'll give you some post-op perspective on Sun. or Mon. after I get home. Don't let the gitters get to you. It's a new beginning. Take care.
