Topic: RE: I cant believe i can eat everything i did before surgery
Hi Suzie, I'm facing a similar problem. I can eat and eat without feeling full and yes, I can eat candy and other "crap" without feeling sick. I'm worried because I gained weight a combination of water weight and fat. I'm afraid of getting on the scale to see how much I've gained because just last week I hit goal of 220 from 371. I don't know what's going on. I too had a little bought with depression and then afterwards it seemed like I woke up and my body felt "different." I guess it's back to the doctor for me.

Brenda, if your surgeon moved out of state, use your pcp ,gyn or find a dietician or any personal doctor that will check you out. keep up with the lab work to be sure your levels are where they are suppose to be and maybe a dietician to help. Personnally I would find another surgeon in your area that does wls and meet with him, explain yours moved and you would like followup care, and I would go back to the basics of when you first had surgery to get back on track. there is a ossg group called back to basics that can help, also severral groups that are for 1 yr out people. also did or do you have a live support group where you could check into? . hope some of this helps. Hi Brenda, my surgery was July 28,2003 and I got from 263 down to 166. I did it real slooooow and had more plateaus then the desert has. actually quit losing at 15 months out. stayed there for 4 months and now have gained 7 lbs. I am hoping its cause the new meds I have been put on but wont know till I can go off them in May. till then I am watching calories, eating 3 meals,no snacks, upping the water, extra exercise and praying like mad. If I could just stay where I am and not gain anymore would elate me. I still had 20 -30 pounds to my personal goal. Now relating to my age, how long in life I sat at 160 or so I may not be able to get any lower and that would be fine to. just means goal is closer Bonnie

My surgeon operated on me and moved out of State. I have had NO post-op help. I started eating to keep from losing any more weight ( you know how people are, don't lose anymore or you're going to look sick). Now I have gained back 15 lbs and want to know if any of you went through this and how did you get back on track. I don't even know how to go on a diet now.

Topic: RE: How are you July 2003'ers doing???
Hi, my name is Ann in Upstate NY. I had RNY-Proximal surgery 07/13/2003.
Starting weight was 244, lost 135 pounds, and today weigh 109 pounds! I had a consult in January 2005 about a body lift and tummy tuck. Insurance approved tummy tuck but said the butt, thighs, legs is "cosmetic" and denied that part. So at least I get the excess skin off the abdomen! Surgery is scheduled for April 13th, 2005. I'm excited and nervous, but so happy to have reached goal. My goal was to lose 100 pounds so to lose the last 35 was a bonus! Protein, protein, protein has been the major factor for me. Oatmeal or protein bar for breakfast, soup, salad, chili w/beans or chicken for lunch, then a lean cuisine meal for dinner, snack is apple, banana, Teddy Grahams, crackers with peanut butter or protein drink. 07/13/03 to 03/30/04 (8 MONTHS) I lost the first 100 pounds. April 2004 to December 21 2004 to lose the last 35 pounds. So a total of 17 months to lose 135 pounds. I could not be more pleased after being overweight for 30 years!

Hello everyone,
I had GBS on 7/25/03. To date with the Panni I have lost a total of 128lbs. It is truely amazing!! I developed a hernia at 3 months out despite having the GBS done Laparoscopic. But I was glad since my insurance only pays for the Panni if there is a hernia present. The Panni was much more painful and I doubt that I will have anything else done. The healing is slow going since I keep filling up with fluid but hopefully this will pass soon.

Oh - thanks for the clarification. It makes me feel a lot better. I was having a less-than-stellar day and just figured your comment was just another one to add to the pile.
Thank you though. I appreciate it.
Cathy.
