Topic: RE: July 23 surgery date
Hi Pat, I, too, am scheduled to have wls on July 23rd. My Dr. is Robert Bell, Yale Hospital, New Haven CT. I am not afraid, though I will probably get more nervous closer to the day. I have already had two major surgeries (both open) Emergency C-Section and a Total Hysterectomy, so I don't think this will be any worse, pain wise. I am ready, to go forward with the rest of my life, getting healthier and feeling better about myself. I have a strong faith in God, and trust Him to get me through the surgery and give me the strength to do what I need to do. As far as last wishes, I feel like this, if you feel that you need to do that, then you should. Yale asks for you to bring a living will with you if you have one. I will probably just write something up for my husband, should anything happen. Take care, you'll do fine. God Bless.

Hi Cheryl
I know how it feels to have this happen and this was nothing to do with me or my health it was the doctors off ice that messed it up for me. I was scheduled for surgery on July 14, 2003 and went for pre=op testing and was told that I still needed two more appointments which I was never told about and then it took me four hours of waiting in the office for them to tell me. I now will have to wait until august 2003. hopwfuly. keep in touch and let me know how you are doing.

Hi Cheryl, I know how it feels to have something planned and it has to be postponed due to other health problems. I am just thankful that the Doc was able to give you the tests that found out about your ulcers before your WLS. Keep busy, take the meds they put you on faithfully, and you will be one the other of WLS before you know it. I go in the morning (9th) for an open RNY. I have been a little anxious, but am ready to get this done. I wish you and your loved ones well and hope that your WLS journey be a smooth one. You are in my prayers and on my heart...Breanda froom Apopka, FL

Hi Vicki, I know how important this messageboard is, it has let me know that what I'm feeling is normal for WLS patients. I will be having my surgery in the morning (9th) at 10 am. I know how the waiting game is played. My advice to you is keep busy, it makes the time go by much faster. I will keep you in my prayers and in my heart that your WL journey will be a smooth one. May God richly bless you and your loved ones...Brenda from Apopka, FL
