I quit smoking at the same time, so I was always reaching for food. Be careful though. It's healthier going into surgery at the same or lower weight. The pounds you put on are that much more you have to take off.
Good luck with your surgery and welcome to a new wonderful family.
Topic: Pre op over
Well that part is over. I was scared to death of the ABG but it was not all that bad. It hurt but not horrible. I will be having surgery on July 29th scared about that too. I know it will be okay. I have never had any surgery before but I know that I have made the right choice.
Thanks to everyone.

Topic: 6 days post op
I'm trying to keep a daily record of my post-op obsticles and events on my profile page if anybody is interested. I'm very interested in talking with people who are within 10 days post op because I want to know if some of the things I'm going through is similiar to others. For instance for the past two days I've had a lot of internal gas pains. Tried some chewable gas-x and that helped for a bit but seems everytime I drink something the new tummy starts making weird noises. I had rNY gastric bypass on July 11th.
I'd love to know what tips or suggestions some of you veterns have for the first month out of surgery. Any habbits I should start doing now? I'm having my protein smoothies for breakfast and for lunch. Should I include dinner too?
BTW - cream of mushroom soup tastes really good to me. some soups don't like tomato soup (ick). Weird because I use to love tomoato soup.
I'm also playing it safe and using lacto-free milk.
Thanks for allowing me to post!

Hi Michelle. I did exactly as you and from all i have read on this site it is pretty normal. I am now exactly 1 week post op, on the clear liquid diet and have had moments where i think i will go crazy if i can not chew something. I had my mother have a full Thanksgiving spead on the fourth of july because i did not want to be denied all that wonderful food. It was great and everyone who heard about it was jealous that they celebrated the holiday with a burger!! How silly I feel to realize that food can have such a hold on my mind.
My feelings are don't deny yourself but maybe cut back on portion size and drink lots of water!
Good luck and may God be with you and yours on your surgery day.
Topic: Last Supper Syndrome
Hi All:
I am having RNY surgery on July 28th, and have been eating like there is no tomorrow. I feel awful and have gained about 10 pounds since May. I can't wait for the surgery to get here so I will put on the breaks. I know that it is not rational to be on this food frenzy, but I am thinking that I am going to miss out if I don't have all my high fat and high sugar foods now. Anyone else in this boat? Thanks for your input!
