105 pounds lighter...and piriformis syndrome (anyone else???)

Well, it has been six months for me, and I am now 105 pounds less. I am particularly thrilled because six weeks after surgery, a HUGE ulcer perforated my pouch giving me peritonitis. Additionally, it ate a hole into my OLD stomach, and my surgeon said I would probably not lose any more weight until that hole was repaired. After a couple of months and LOTS of prayer, the ulcer and the hole healed! I am back to losing weight and doing just great. I did hit a plateau for about a month, but took a long hard look at my fluid intake and food choices. That made the difference. Now, my newest problem is what my neurologist calls "carpal tunel of the butt"!!! Due to rapid weight loss, the siatic nerve has become entrapped in the piriformis muscle and causes siatica!!! I am in physical therapy (has helped somewhat) and the neurologist gave me a cortisone injection (helped only minimally). Now there is talk of a nerve block. Anyone else had this problem????

Wow Pat!! Sorry to hear about the complications. I can relate to the ulcer issue though. July 27, 26 days after my surgery, I was on my death bed. I ended up having to get a blood transfusion of 5 pints of blood. I am glad to hear the ulcer and hole have healed!!! As far as the other issue with your behind, well, I didn't understand all the medical talk so I have no clue. Good Luck to you and many blessings from Louisiana, Dee
