Has any of you been eating beef, steak, etc. way before the year mark. My doctor instructions said to not have beef until a year out.. but I have been eating it just fine for a couple months now. Has anyone else done the same? There really isn't anything I haven't been able to eat. I, of course, try to stay away from sugars, etc. But, even the few times I've had sugar it hasn't bothered me. Last time I weighed myself I had lost 90 lbs. since surgery (7/23/03). Thanks for any replies!

I have eaten beef already. My doc has not mentioned me waiting a year. BUT I dont do well when I do eat it, makes me gag. for me chicken is always my first choice, but I have read of others who cant eat chicken! I guess everyone has to test different things out and see how it goes. CONGRATS on your success so far!! 90lbs is great!!

This just goes to show you how incredibly different all Drs are in regards to WLS. I was released from any kind of diet restriction at 1 wk post-op. I've been eating pretty much whatever I wanted since then. I do try to avoid certain things like pasta, rice, other carbs and high sugar foods. But at the same time, I definitely don't deprive myself of something I really want. I just limit the quantity. Congrats on your 90 lbs. That is wonderful!!! Michelle 270/177/130

Tonda- Ive had No problems eating beef. My nutritionist told me to take it slow at first, cuz its really hard to digest. But she didnt tell me I couldnt eat it! I would listen to your surgeon though. Everyone is different, and I truly believe that everyone should follow their surgeons plan. -Rachel

I can eat just about anything. I know I was eating/chewing beef jerky at like 3 weeks post op. I can eat steak fairly well. Chicken is what gets stuck. I never know when it will happen, pretty odd. BTW, congratulations on the weight loss! You are doing fantastic! Theresa OpenRNY 7/15/03 235/165/140?135
