MELODY, I'm having trouble with bread also. I try every couple of weeks, but I just can't keep it down. I am able to eat thin crusty pizza and crackers. That helps a little when I'm really craving bread. My surgery was in September. Deb Carlson

No bread here, either. I can eat some thin crackers, chex, and yes, thin crust pizza. Anything else is a no go. I guess it's just something we have to learn to deal with and it seems to be common to many post-op WLS patients.

Thank goodness I found this site! I am glad I'm not the only one who can't eat bread. I even have trouble with breading on fish, shrimp, etc. I am able to eat some cereals, but not most, and occasionally a Lean Pocket, but even then, it sometimes just burns and hurts. My surgery date was 7/25/03.

I have found that I can eat Ezekiel Bread and I love it. It is quite dense since there is no flour in it just the grains. It comes from the receipe that is listed in the Bible in the book of Ezekiel. You can find this bread in most heath food stores I buy it at Trader Joes where it costs half the price. Each slice has 4 grams of protien. Try a piece of toast with natural peanut butter on it and you have a meal with 13 grams of protien! I find it hard to finish the whole peice since it's so dense, but boy it will keep you full all day.

I am 5 months post op and Bread still makes my chest and stomach feel severe pressure when I eat it. I too eat chex mix and it doesnt hurt. But I do a big nono and eat cookie crisp cereal without milk for a snack and beleive it or not it works great.
