I don't quite have a BMI of 35, but I have other problems that are leading me to surgery. My PCP is giving me trouble about the surgery, he want me to do WW for awhile, I told him I have done this stuff for the last 20 years and they do not work me. Any ideals? Thanks

I would find another PCP...if they are not supportive of weight loss surgery now, I don't think that they will be supportive to you later on, when you most likely fail, yet again, with one of those commercial dieting programs. I know that I have gone to doctors for my pre-op testing and so forth, and they were not happy about the idea of my having WLS and I just didn't go back to them. The thing about it is, seeing as they have most of the power in this type of situation, considering the fact that they are the people who have to refer you and send reports about you to the surgeon and the insurance company, if they don't want you to have this WLS, for whatever reason, they can sabatoge the whole thing by reporting that you aren't "ready" for the life-changing surgery, or that you haven't followed doctors orders and haven't tried to lose weight by any other means, etc. If I were you, I would seek out a PCP who was more supportive concerning WLS and who has had patients who have not only been approved, but who have also had successful WLSs. I hope that I have helped Good luck with everything, and feel free to email me at [email protected] Dominique
