Short Term Disability means - Having a Baby?!?!?!

Just wanted to share a laugh with all of you - I was double checking that my HR department had all the necessary paperwork for me to be able to go on Short Term Disability while I was away from work. I received an e-mail today from one of the HR people stating "At this point we are waiting for the actual delivery date of the baby. Just give me a call after you have the baby to give me the first day of absence from work, the date of the birth of the baby, and the nature of the delivery. I hope your delivery goes well!" HAHAHA - I quickly got in touch with my doctor's office to see what kind of paperwork they had forwarded on to my HR department - and they told me (laughing the whole time too) that they "did not make me pregnant" on my paperwork. I then got in touch with my HR dept. and left a voice mail (still laughing) that I was NOT pregnant and the reason I needed STD benefits was because of surgery. This is also funny since I'm a 43 year old, divorced mom with an almost 17 year old daughter - believe me - I am NOT pregnant and not even dating at this time. Just thought you all would enjoy a smile. By the way - send positive thoughts my way - I'm having a revision surgery on July 24th. Robin

Just had my pre op interview- I'm slated for a revision on tomorrow, July 11. I've been feeling pretty apprehensive about the surgery. Your comments gave me a laugh- I'd still rather have surgery thatn be pregnant at 50! Good luck with your revision! Jeri H.
