Finally - have a date of 7/7/03! Woohoo!

I sort of went against "protocol" by calling my surgeon's office to check today, but I couldn't wait any longer. My surgeon's assistant went on vacation the Wednesday before Memorial Day weekend, and specifically told me not to call her after she got back (yesterday), she'd call me. I think I've been pretty patient...my consult with the surgeon was 5/6/03. She acted very peeved, but let me know she received approval yesterday, and her next available date was 7/7/03. I practically yelled "i'll TAKE it!" I'm kind of nervous and scared and sort of in shock; i guess i never really thought i'd be approved, because i'm a lightweight. Now that i am, my mind is kind of reeling with the possibility that I may actually be "normal" within a year's time (weight-wise).

I dont understand where people working for the public or the medical field specifically get off being "peeved" at people. They are there to serve US. To help Us. It is like they do not understand how much this means to us, how it is a life changing event. How can we NOT want to know things as soon as possible. The fact that you got the information you wanted when you called says she could have called you by now. You have a right to call and find out about your medical needs and wants. I agree with you -- her attitude was a little brusque...however, i was much too happy to care that she was upset I didn't follow her "rule." One of my problems is i tend to take things way too personally (a.k.a. paranoia), and so i'm trying to let things slide off my back instead of taking offense so easily.
